So gave BFA a go, I joined the AV event and I’m 115 after two battlegrounds, which I had no idea would happen.
I’m also wondering where to go to use the time walker badges please?
You really get so many levels for leveling in AV?

The TW are for the “timewalking”-events. The upcoming Wednesday starts the Wrath of the Lich King one which you can queue to. The badges can be used then in the old Dalaran at the NPC.
Just to make sure that you queue at least once per character when the event is up.

Yeah it was really unexpected, since no BG’S in classic yet thought I would try the retail event one instead!

yes - this AV- Revenge event that is. But the scaling is different. Under 60s get much less, and 110+ gets a lot. But also things like how well your team does counts. Me just coming out with 5 levels gained was due to match lasting healthy amount of time. And my team getting full defence+offence jackbot+ me combining box collecting going back actually do objectives with team.
I doubt you get 5 levels per AV on all leves, or even matches. A friend of mine tries to level his L50 mage and got 75% of his level while I was doing match and got one and half same time.
I would like to add there is also vendor in AV entrance at Alterac Mountains that sells ilvl 380 items with marks of honor and timewarped badges. If you do Chromies AV quest you get marks and badges to at least get few items.
I just leveled my DH from 112 to 120 within one (!) hour. Have both Champion trinkets, I’ll go to the next character now, my Zandalari Paladin.
edit: I got at least 1.5 levels at the end after winning. Don’t know how big the bonus was in total but it was enough to push me to 120.
yeah got a random rogue - 120 with two avs, and she got 50% mount progress. But I changed my tactics. I now only am in front line playing av as I enjoy most, and try to get some armour pieces - and since npcs give those too, so being in front line allows me to get quick 20 marks during initial assaults to certain objectives. Now I will take my mount-hunter fresh ding, give her least benthic, and boost her neck as a break, and go dive back into the mount hunt part 2 
after i deal with mount I likely go see if this forum avatar gets her 120 too or not. ;D

There is also a vendor outside Alterac Valley entrance out in the world where you can buy gear for Marks of Honor and TW tokens combined. They sell two weapons if you’ve killed Korrak in the BG. The vendors are located at the respective Horde and Alliance entrances.
This covers the other Timewalking Events so you can save up your badges if you wish.
