What to upgrade for more FPS

Hi!
I’m getting low fps (10-20) in raids, and what would you recommend me to buy to upgrade my PC? I have:

RTX 2070
32GB RAM
i5-9400f

and my MB is ASRock B365M Phantom Gaming 4, maybe I will need a new one too

Thanks!

Your CPU is severly bottlenecking you, especially in WoW.

For a noticeable boost in FPS you will have to switch motherboards too.

The cheapest would probably be AM4 with a 5700X3D, but it’s a dead platform.

So if you have the budget i would strongly recommend to upgrade to AM5 instead, this will be supported till 2027 with several generations of Ryzens by AMD.

Entry level would be a Ryzen 7500F or 7600.
Altough the 7800X3D would be the best gaming CPU on the market atm and will last you a long time, worth the investment (it has the best value by far atm).

Then obviously you will need new DDR5 RAM, recommended 6000Mhz.
32GB are standard these days.

Don’t forget a new CPU-cooler too

I have to agree with that.

Either a 5700X3D (cheaper and only a few FPS short from a 5800X3D) but either are good for AM4/DDR4 setups.

Or that 7800X3D which is a beast for WoW at least as the game does take advantage of that extra cache.

But since you’re going to have to change motherboard, best to hop onto the AM5 route and get the 7800X3D cpu instead and pair it with said DDR5 ram.

It’ll give you options later on if you want to upgrade to a 9800X3D whenever AMD announces that at somepoint in the future and the socket looks to be supported now until year 2027.

As for an Intel recommdendation. Can’t do that since the problems with all 13th and 14th gen cpu’s right now. Have to see if they fixed that with their 15th gen or whatever they’re calling that one.

I’m waiting to see what the 9800x3d is going to be priced at etc. Probably a bit too late and too close to moving to 7800x3d right now. Got a 5900x currently which can get somewhat close to a 5800x3d if I overclock it with PBO.

But runs WoW fine without doing that honestly.
