What was OG Mists of Pandaria like?

MoP takes top 3 in my list of expansions. I played WoW casually at that times and it was GREAT. Great and concetrated story, amazing zones, asian/chinese vibe over the roof which felt like a breeze in Warcraft darkish universe. And music - omg. Couple of tracks are still in my playlists.

What I didn’t enjoy - late game (at least for casuals) was heavy reliable on dailies. Log in every day, do the same dailies, rinse and repeat. That’s why I dropped the expansion with release of Isle of Thunder. But I still remember this expasion with a lot of nostalgia and enjoyed replaying the story of it in remix.

I can’t wait for Panda classic. Halfhill cooking and my farm :), nomi being annoying, …such great memories  Timeless Isle pvp, cloak quest chain, loved it

It was one of the best expansions. Probably the most playtime I have in any expansion.

Yeah, a lot of comments on copying Kung Fu Panda etc. despite there being a Pandaren in Warcraft 3 years before that movie.

It was actually a good expansion at the time. We got content at a good pace (up until the long drought at the end). The initail leveling and exploring was good. Then we got the Krasserang Wilds invasion and story there. Then the Idle of Thunder had its story and build up to Throne of Thunder. MOP LFR was my first time doing the proper raiding story during an expansion (I did Kara in TBC and some Naxx in Wrath).
Then we got the Timeless Isle which was entertaining for a good few months.

I did really only play two characters at the time. I switched Gram to main then and my Pally to second (had been main TBC to Cata but class changes meant I didn’t like it so much).

All in All a good end game experience. Then we got WoD which had nothing to do at end game except the Ring quest and some LFR.

Late WoD was when I returned to the game, so I didn’t experience the content draught; since I had 3 expansions worth to catch up on. This is why WoD never left me disappointed personally.

I took my second longish break in WoD, I remember the day. I read the interview with Ion saying Flying was going for good and I immediately cancelled my sub (last time I did so).
The previous break was in Cata when my guild had gone quiet and there wasn’t much to do either. They put so much resources into revamping the world and introducing Transmog that end game had little to do.

The previous break to that was Vanilla when I played for 6 months and reached level 30 on my Orc warrior and level 14 on my Troll Shaman. I had about 30g between them.
Came back in TBC and found leveling much faster and better.

They copied  but not :tiger: , unfortunately. Btw i find Pandaren cute

Meanwhile: Awakened season :dracthyr_lulmao:

Yeah it is a little bit of a problem. I will almost certainly still play MoP classic, assuming it rolls around in ~18 months. I would still enjoy a solid long run at that content, with raids being something you build up to and have to understand, rather than just launch in at level 25 and zerg. But a bit of the shine will have gone because I’ve been crushing Garrosh on heroic (and probably mythic) through 2024.

But if nothing else, remix has made me realise that MoP classic will be many times better if they introduce flex raiding throughout. Make it so that you can take 10-30 people into a raid, from Mogushan through to SoO, and I think it’s a winner. This hard lock to 10 players feels like a great way to kill guilds who are used to the modern game.

I have played since 2005 and also played during the entire Mists of Pandaria expansion, cleared every raid in heroic, and I can for certain say that the expansion was one of the best ones in WoW’s history.

The entire expansion felt like a brand new game with how much there was to do every day and week such as Wrathion’s legendary cloak questline, challenge mode dungeons, dailies, hunting rares, and the Timeless Isle which always found ways to entertain you. The scenery, immersion and music is also one of the best experiences I’ve ever seen in WoW.

It was horrible. Like losing 4 millions subscribers bad.

Now the game became so bad that even that horrible expansion is being praised.

I had my own garden which I STILL visit even to this day.

Yet WoD managed to make it seem great. Looking at all the expansions that followed Mists makes me wish I’d just quit then, and saved myself so many dramas. I’ve never taken the game at all seriously after WoD.

I remember I was watching videos done by Swifty on youtube lol

The raids were perfectly tuned, the immersion throughout the whole expansion was great, the story was interesting, the characters likeable and had coherent personalities.
Class balance is never perfect and the oversimplified talent system was the response to the complaints that a tree is pointless since all builds are 95% identical. So blizz made them all default and put the 5% into a table so you have a CC row, a defensive row, mobility row etc. It was efficient, but not very MMO-ish.

Overall I’d say it was great.

it it was super flamed and “hated” on forums becaue lazy people didnt want to do dailies

and leveling speed was very slow compared to cata.

a lot of people either dont remeembr or pretend to not remember this.

first tier wasnt super loved by players eithr - mostly bcause hof and toes were very rough for weaker guilds . a lot of people in casual guild were very hard stuck on 4/6 MV with no wy to progress further. and the DS with 30 % nerf heroes hit the wall very very fast with no real option to farm gear / overgear difficult bosses untill blizard put in VP upgrades on gear to offset that - precursor of tf gear

elegon was nerfed multiple times because people just didnt have dps to kill it - on normal

most people when they say they remeemebr mop fondly in reality mostly rememebr 14 months of soo with flex mode and possiblity of overgear everythign thx to 4/4 vp upgrades on gear.

I would pay them if they let me play Balance druid from MOP again
I really enjoyed that one
Cata is almost like that but it lacks that fast gameplay and procs

Dailies , Dailies , Dailies … more Dailies … oh you hit revered with Golden Lotus congrats , you can do even more dailies now for the august celestials and Shadow Pan.

Starting a legendary quest yay sounds cool ( if only we knew you had to do it with every single toon) Monks were just okay. Mistweaver was competitive in raids.

yay new patch … Dailies , Dailies … more dailies

Oh new patch new zone , thunder king sounds cool . Dailies , Dailies , Dailies. WoW gets It’s first class quest seen in WoW since tbc flight form quest. It’s for locks only. Protection Paladins are completely broken. If you don’t bring two prot pallies to raid what are you doing ?

Timless Isle … just kill stuff , alot of stuff until you think you have enough coins , very rare purple item to upgrade Timeless gear.

Beyond dailies … no wait there’s more . Daily cooldowns on professions.
Jewelcrafters can make mounts now …then they never could since for some reason.
Blacksmiths can make reborn items , items that were removed end of TBC.

Siege of Org patch. Destro locks and Balance Druids broken … then absolutely nothing for month after month … 1 year later still nothing … then blizz announces good news everyone , raiders can upgrade their gear by 4 times now instead 2. So you can go raid Siege of Org again also we are bringing out a difficulty between Lfr and normal called Flexible.

Then waiting an eternity for WoD

That was full memory of mists.

Edit : I pvped alot during Mists aswel , and this is the start of when arena got lame. Just stun stun stun , silence , slowed , stun stun stun dead. On repeat unless you’re team was faster at doing all of that first.

5v5 was almost dead. 3v3 as the most popular for ranking. 2’s for a fast CP.
Rated bgs were still alive in Mists , but slowly dying in popularity over the course of the expansion.

I don’t have any memories of one class ever being “op” I know ret pallies had a one shot rotation if you allowed them to pull it off in S2.

One of the best exps. Great zones, music, and especially the story. Imo, it is a model of what a good wow story should look like. A completely new-separate story, with a good balance of fun and serious/dark themes (for those who don’t know, yes MoP has serious, sad and dark stories, but you have to read the quests). Pandaren are also one of the most interesting races imo.

My first exp and also the one I played the most. But I’m not sure how much I’ll want to play it again after the remix. Although, when I think how good the pvp was…

I hated it. The overall theme never sat very well with me. Not the zones or the story of the expansion. Never felt at home in Pandaria.

MoP is the only time I took an extended, several month long break from WoW.
