this is not a wow is dying/ is dead post. so no need to discuss that here.
also, this is the 3rd time ive posted this as it is not coming up!
so, i have played many games over the years, on gameboy, BBC micro, mega drive and older pcs. using emulators, or the original soft/hardware i occassionally like to replay the game for memories sake. wether it be space invaders, pac man, tetris, street fighter, age of empires, whatever.
you cant do this with wow.
so how will you feel, with all the hours, days, weeks, months, years you have invested in this game, when you are feeling nostalgic in the future after wow ends, and you grab your old copies of wow on cd/dvd so you can stroll down memory lane, but you wont be able to play it.
and no, wow will not last forever.

Nothing will happen. Once the sub amounts will drop to such level that the wow project won't be profitable anymore. It will simply be closed.
Me like most other people will simply move on. Either to find a different game or simply close the wow chapter of their lives and move on.

I'd probably become a lonly old geezer sitting on my porch on my rocking chair yelling at kids and society.

You should not do this. Spend time but don't invest.
Check the EULA, you only buy ads and spyware.
In the end I'll keep the nice relations, because my community is not run by Blizzard.
That's a very good question, because I do the exact same thing as you do (also buy a lot of remastered games)...
But I think I just stop chasing that feeling I have had with the other games...
I have tried to return to other online games that I used to play, but I couldn't get that same satisfaction from the game as I used to.
Another game added to the list of games I used to play.

I will be very sad when wow goes. This is the only game I've played for so many years. But everything has to come to an end.

Probably they will let the franchise be dead for 2 - 4 years then they will reintroduce it as (as I see it) one of four possibilities:
1: World of Warcraft 2 - A new more ambitious MMORPG
2: Warcraft 4 - Continuing the story from Warcraft 3 while retconning most of WOW
3: TV series like Game of Thrones. I'd imagine WOW would be quite good at filling the hole left behind by both The Avengers and GoT.
4: An RPG. Something similar to Skyrim.
Either way I don't think they'll let such a heavy IP go to waste.

The sky will darken. The ground will rumble. And before you have time to skim the gunge off your cocoa they will be dragging you off to casualty with fractured nerve ends.
So not good.

Just log out.
WoW will never really die as long as our civilization lasts. It's part of the culture, like Tolkien's stories and folklore tales of dwarfs and elves from ancient times. WoW has added more tales to what already existed and I expect it to live on in various forms.
When it comes to the game I look in my crystal ball and predict:
From Vanilla and retail WoW Blizzard will develop a new game, taking the best parts of each and modernizing it. The games will exist parallel for some time, but eventually the WoW as we know it will be shut down. For a fee we will be able to transfer our current characters to WoW2 and keep them. So many of us have characters we don't want to give up, so here is money to be made and likely will happen.
I can also imagine a lot of private servers will pop up the day it shuts down and Blizzard isn't going to care anymore.

I will turn the pc off and go for a walk to the park to feed the ducks breadcrumbs, resting my cane and tired old body onto the bench.
Considering I will be retired at that day and will enjoy free days of my retirement I guess I stay in the park a little longer than usual.

Like lord Garrosh said "Times change" Life will go on and wow and its lore will remain in our hearts. well wow will always be a part of me anyway. i just love everything about it. But will not be annoyed when it ends and i will just get on with my life and level myself up :P

There is a game of thrones computer game but it's not an MMO. They aren't a copy of a story from the books either, the author wrote them.

There already is one, Elder scrolls online.
I think they may develop either a new WoW or run the Classic server idea into other expansions.
No doubt some new adventure TV series will come along and they will make an MMO out of that.
Hope they make WoW 2 or World of Diablo, play GW2, get waaaay more into Warhammer and D&D games.... cry....
Some games old games that I know have been taken over by 'opensource' developers. It might be a good or a really bad thing as such warcraft will live on if we allow it or even want it.
If WoW will die, I will be very sad. Even though this game is so bad now, that I am not renewing my subscription, which expires in 3 weeks, I still like my character and my I would be really sorry to lose it forever.
I hope that if that happens, Activision will stop raping Warcraft universe with their cheap shallow games. If they make WoW2, I might try it of course, but my expectations towards all activision`s games are at the lowest possible level (yet Activision is far from achieving that)

For as long as Blizzard exists and there are people who play WoW, the servers will likely remain avaliable and Blizzard will continue to support the game.
I mean, just look at Diablo II. That game was released 18 years ago, and you can still play it online on battle.net, and Blizzard still provides support for it, and they even create new ladder seasons on a regular basis!
And WoW is much bigger and more sustainable than Diablo II ever was. So expect another decade of WoW, or however long it takes for skynet to just export Azeroth straight into our brains.
Blizzard are notoriously known for maintaining support for their games for an infinite amount of time. There's no reason to assume WoW will be any different.

It ends might feel little bit down but life goes on there are another games besides wow.
I will probably cut down gaming by a lot and find other things to do irl since this is the only game that made me coming back every expansion for 14 years
People would find another game to rant at, bonus points if it's from an AAA company.
