The thought occurred to me after seeing FF14’s recent media splurge. The candour of the answers is what intrigued me and the way the developers engaged with their questioners.
We haven’t had that in WoW for a very, very long time. We’ve had interview sessions before, and we’ve had the devs answering, but most of the answers feel as if they are delivered through an almighty corporate filter that creates a sense of distance between them and their player base and doesn’t actually answer the question.
I would love to be able to ask a frank question and get a frank answer.
For me the question would be, given the quality of the narratives many of your competitors put out, why do you feel comfortable delivering your players a substandard RPG experience?
Anyone else got a question they’d love to ask the devs if the devs were willing to be brutally honest in their answers?
Do you think the system team is capable of delivering systems that are actually fun to progress, while playing the game as you prefer, instead of resorting to forcing people into raiding or into some korthialike- grind?
I’d ask them , how much of he business model from activision they implement in wow , and most of their games , how much of a free hand they actually got ?
Why won’t you let players progress through the game at THEIR OWN pace? No time gates, no renown, no legendary system adding additional blockages. Just people being able to blast or trudge through all content as slow or fast as they like. Why not?!
I would ask why do they change systems that was perfect and worked?
PvP gearing in WoD and MoP, perhaps not perfect, was i believe as good as it could get. I don’t remember a single soul complaining about gearing during these expansions. I had 5 toons in WoD, 7 in MoP, would just hit 60, farm honor and start smashing that BG button like crazy.
Since Legion… I had only 1 main and a half-done alt. SL, just 1 main and nothing else.
Why the change? It makes absolutely no sense.
If the answer to this “they make you farm more honor to get that engagement metrics up”. I would just say wow… They are insane.
