What years was your most memorable

…and why?
Mine was from the end of 2008 or the start of 2009, when I first started playing. I was around 9 or 10 years of age at that time. My classmate invited me home to show me this game, I remember he played a Troll Hunter leveling in the Barrens. He let me try the game, and I immediately fell in love with it!
I ran to the store with him, and the cashier said I was too young to buy WoW at that time…so I called my mother so she could confirm on the phone for me so I could pay for the physical copy of the game. I had to walk quite a distance to finally arrive home, and I remember it was alot of wind coming towards, slowing me down, and the plastic bag with the game almost flew out of my hands all the time!
When I finally came home, the installation almost took 3 hours. I sat there, reading the game manual over and over again, meanwhile staring at the innstalation bar. I was so excited. The next morning, I woke up so early in the morning just to play before my parents woke up… my first character- a Tauren Warrior.

It was something magical about having to walk to buy a video game at the store, and keeping the physical copy as a “trophy” in your room, (which makes things more of an experience), rather than passively buying everything via the PC nowadays.

Since that day, I`ve been playing. Amazing how these 12 years have past. And its been worth it!

Sorry if this post is long… I just felt for sharing my story, and would really like to hear yours too!

Probably 2009 or 2007. My Aunt had a house waaaaay up on the Mountains of Lebanon. We would go there from time to time and I would play Computer games or watch Disney movies.

I also remember my first days playing my Tauren Warrior in the Mulgore starting zone, I was doing the quest to fight some Quilboars - and there were so many of them, and it was there I died for the first time. And when my character went into “spirit world” as a ghost, I thought he was dead forever! So I deleted that character (he was only at lvl 3 or 4), thinking all characters only had 1 life…

WotLK probably, the first expansion I fully experienced [started halfway into TBC]… and it was so atmospheric.

Mines simple, a friend at work was playing it during his break, he was fishing in stormwind on his level 40 rogue. Someone else had a guest pass, which let you play for 7 days for free and I used it and installed the game from work as I used a website to access my home PC from work and it was ready when I got home.

I had an 8meg ADSL2 test line as I worked for the ISP, the router would only go up to 8meg. I bought the game next day in my lunch break. That was in June 2005 and my sub hasn’t been cancelled yet.

That’s the starting WoW one anyway. Pity the OP had to stop at 60 when everyone else was at 70.

My favourite was probably the first time finishing ICC when it was current content.

I can’t remember the date clearly and I’m lazy to check right now, but it was like 4 to 6 months before Burning Crusade launched, I found a lost druid elf in Jasperlode that’d steadily become one of my best friend still to this day.

Other than that, the first day I put my feet in Icecrown Citadel.

I’m 10 years late, but congratulation ~ I hope she is growing well and with care ~

I started playing circa 2012. I have fond memories of being an absolute idiot in the game back then since I had no experience of MMORPG’s at all. Great times.

Although, seriously, my favorite memories are from glorious Legion days. :two_hearts:

Good ol’ '97. I was a wee 3 year old boy, and yet the call for adventure and knowledge of the unknown had already taken hold of my soul! Thus I ended up having quite a bit of adventures that drove my parents (bless 'em) absolutely crazy! But it was a good year, full of laughter, adventures, and exploration! And it was then when I started reading encyclopedias and enjoying gaining wider knowledge of the world.

I’ve had fun in the years before and after that for sure, but that year was just a jewel in my memory collection. Bless ye '97. I’ll never forget ye.

1963, The Beatles playing live at the Imperial Ballroom in Nelson, Lancs. I was 14 years old, mum was a barmaid.

1995, I built my first PC, a Pentium 100 CPU, 1.08GB hard drive and 8MB RAM. I thought it was the dogs doodahs.

Oh, WoW-wise, 2004 when I was introduced to the game by my daughter and joined the open beta. I had previously been playing Dark Age of Camelot for a few years and WoW was like - WOW! So advanced, graphics were unbelievable, so was the game play, it made DAOC look like a dinosaur. I made an Alliance Paladin and got her to the beta cap of L40. I could not wait for the game to finally be launched, I was so excited. Yes, I was still a kid at heart despite being 54 years old at the time. Age is just a number.

What in WoW or in general?

This isn;t easy for me to answer.
During Vanilla I played on Darksorrow on my priest Nÿx and I started to get well known.
In TBC I made a PvP event that was held weekly that ran for about 3 months.
In WOTLK I crashed the server 3-4 times with PvP events and it was fun.
In Cata thanks to the extended final season I got all classes and professions maxed on Horde
I hated MoP
In WoD I managed to get all classes maxed on both factions.
In Legion I got all mage tower appearances for all specs, managed to complete each class order hall on both factions and get most class mounts / orderhall sets and make loads of cash boosting +15s on my DH as tank and selling legendaries I crafted.

I got most done in legion, but enjoyed vanilla / TBC most.
Each expansion has a place for me and for varying reasons, but really? the most enjoyable times were messing about with friends, usually in arena.

The happiest memories were there when I started my first char, a hunter, in 2008. Totally ignorant, rolling on strength gear, or intellect stuff and called them “the hunter’s loots”.

I remembered feeling gobsmacked when a random max level player gave me 10g after helping him out with mobs in the middle of nowhere. I was just collecting coppers from killing stuff and levelling quests and could barely afford repair bills back then, you know.

He was also the one that introduced me to the auction house and said “how easy it is” to make gold there. Sweet.

Now everyone is just so angry just about anything in this game…

The release of 4.2, so I guess 20111 going into 2012. Best memories I had were with two guild friends running cata dungeons.
I also miss forming groups for TB.
