Hello everyone, can someone please explain how the match making system works?
I’ve gone from 2900 to 2300 in two days, around 30 games and every single game I’ve been the highest rated player by atleast 100-200 rating, In 30 games I’ve been unable to earn rating while at the same time being subjected to heavy punishments.
And please dont start with the “excuses” argument, its not about losing rating its about understanding how I can playing at my rating and how they system work. Its obviously a systematic thing and that is the main question here, how does it work and why is it like this?
There is a good article on WoWhead explaining the communities best knowledge on how it works, but basically I think only Blizzard really knows it.
Your matchmaking is not based on your personal rating (CR), instead it’s based on your current MMR score which is not the same as CR. MMR is WAY more dynamic, if you start to lose your MMR drops lower and lower much faster than your CR, so the players you now are matched against have a similar MMR as you instead of CR.
When you win now you will get 0 or only a few points as your MMR is much lower than your CR, but when you lose, you will lose a lot of MMR and CR.
This can get you stuck in “MMR hell” as then only way for you to recover is to go on a lucky win streak with none of very few losses before your MMR is back on the same level or higher than your CR.
This is why you see very inexperienced players in high rated games, as they have had a lucky streak and gets matched in games they don’t belong in, or highly experienced players stuck in low rated games.
Ultimately, the whole BG Blitz system is deeply flawed from a player perspective, but certainly designed by Blizzard to force us to play as much as possible.
Perfect anwere, It’s what I feared. Terrible system, understand very well why pvp population is so low. I will defintivily not continue as a new player
Same issue with SS basically… the current system is very punishing and if you are slightky unlucky you get punished hard and have to fight really hard to climb
