From my understanding everyone spat on mages doing AOE pulls before, pulling many mobs not leaving any for the rest. I was fine with it, required a little planning and could easily go horribly wrong.
But what they have created with SOD just makes me puke tbh. You see mages pull way beyond anything you would wanna see in classic, pulls that could wipe a 40man raid, and apart from them killing them insanely fast they don’t even bother about being hit… they just take the damage and heal through it.
What I love about WoW players is that they just HAVE to exaggerate everything to a comic level of BS.
Aside from them - I don’t really give a fudge, they were AoE farming as is, so now they have another way to do the same thing they were doing just fine anyway.
Not saying they should be dogsht, but litterly soloing most dungeons even ones that are just a few levels lower seems a bit much, while most classes wouldn’t even be able to touch the first pack
Not even the dungeons, in regular leveling as well, casually pulling 5-10 mobs time and time again, while there is a warrior right next to him eating after each fight
Yes mages should be insane at AOE but not face tank the damage at the same time
They will most likely get a nerfbat in that department and they should, but lets not go ahead and post BS like 40-man raid will wipe to what mage does.
It’s like - there is no need to BS, just say things as they are and it’s fine enough.
About what ? Mage AoE farming ? It’s been a thing since vanilla. Are you still bothered by it or are you discovering their AoE capabilities ?
Did you open this thread to enumerate obvious facts we have known for 2 decades ? Is your next thread going to be “What’s the consensus on warriors dominating the tanking and dps world at lvl60 ?”.
Again, your “point” is well known. You are 2 decades late. “Mages have strong AoE and can solo farm dungeons, even going as far as to pull half/the entire dungeon” is as mundane as saying “summer sunlight is warm”. The devs designed them that way. Range + the best AoE spells + an AoE root + an entire talent tree designed to slow their targets. That they are even stronger now that they have access to SoD runes is a given.
Mage is bottom tier both PvP and PvE right now so what are we talking about?
For farming anything decent a hunter is better.

I assume you’re referring to “Spankers” video on youtube. In the comments he even states :
“Just to figure out this 1 pull with spacing and the buff it took like 20+ hours to figure out.

A random 25 mage can’t just walk into RFC and pull everything. They will die.
It takes a good amount of practice and precision. Rewatch the video and admire the skill and timing it takes to do that pull.
They already nerfed it but it doesn’t matter. Soon as living flame popped GG, as long as u don’t run out of mana, you will be 100% HP at the end of the fight
Thankfully it requires specific positioning of adds, so while it works wonders in solo content, there is too much movement by tanks etc in dungeons to be that broken
nothing wrong with burning down mobs the way the do, but healing based on damage taken? that’s just cringe and an ability better suited to warriors/paladins.
