I’ve got 4 classes I want to do the challenge modes on. I have done 4 out of 9 dungeons on this druid, and none on the others.
I am struggling to complete my CMs because every group is just doing the same ones, the ones I have already done. And in the rare event that a group is doing one of the 5 I need, they (like all other groups) demand I link my 9/9 achievement or they won’t even consider me.
What is going on? Did everyone finish them all already? Are everyone just buying boosts instead of playing for themselves?
It is pretty sad that you can’t even play the game anymore, because people are so afraid of wasting time they won’t even bring someone who has good gear and has consumables and has done other dungeons on gold…
Vicious cycles of gatekeeping like this one are exactly why I believe it should be against ToS to demand experience of previously clearing the content as a requirement to join a group for said content
Well, yes, people who have already done this achievement will not do it again. Only for gold, thats working just as GDKP, for someone expirienced+geared no reason to run instances w/o getting payd
Try doing a full Mythic raid while kicking everyone who’s got the achieve and only keeping people who’ve at most cleared Normal.
Let me know how that works out for you.
Mythic raids as a concept should have never happened. Yet another mistake that reinforced the downwards spiral of designing the game for the 3% of tryhards and alienating normal or casual players
They kind of made heroic raids the new “normal” difficulty raids and mythic the new “heroic”
At least thats what my impression is. But yes raids got a lot harder in Cata, then in WoD, and from Legion onwards it just got ridiculous (Antorus for example).
Content like mythic raiding or +20 keystone dungeons is exactly what does not let normal people live and let live. The problem is that it is not some separate game dimension like pet battles that can exist independently from everything else. Instead, it affects everything. The game will need to be designed around it, the meta forms around it, the classes have to be balanced around it.
Players do not live in their own bubbles. They constantly compare themselves against other people they see. Your gear and accomplishments are meaningless in vacuum, they only have value in comparison to what others have and what you can potentially achieve. One of the best things about classic was that if you play regularly, you can get [nearly] BiS gear and have the satisfaction of achieving the ultimate goals of the patch.
Mythic raids and keystone dungeons ruin it all as they set the bar way too high for a normal person to ever achieve. Raiding and keys feel like an endless treadmill. No matter how much you beat, there is always a higher difficulty and better loot. It’s never enough and you just get bogged down in the infinite swamp of loot and difficulty continuum that just goes up without end as if you are playing Vampire Survivors.
As a result you have the Retail situation where the average player is a tryhard who has played the game for 10+ years and spends 90% of their playtime sweating in the raid 4 hours every evening 5 days a week trying to prog the current thing, and the game feels like a damn job
That’s just not true tho.
And most people who raid mythic do not raid 4 hours every day either.
That’s the top of the top, most have just 1-2 chars they raid on, not a full roster for every day of the week.
Sorry mate but If you think that a regular person from the potential target audience can clear current tier Mythic raids, then you need to take a break from WoW and touch grass a little
I never said that, but you don’t have to, do you?
Noone’s forcing you to raid mythic if you don’t want to. There’s plenty of activities in the game that I don’t enjoy, so… I don’t do them.
Simple, isn’t it?
Can you curb the insults and actually read what I said instead?
You keep saying “let me enjoy my thing, why does this bother you?”. I have explained twice why this does not work, and I will repeat again: the existence of higher difficulties and better loot ruins the fun and the perception of the game for those who cannot beat said higher difficulties because we all exist in the same world. People will be less satisfied and will be compelled to do harder content that they would not like to do.
This is an issue but I don’t think it applies to Classic. Classic is still easy enough that with some effort and a drive to actually succeed you can do the content. If you are a dad with 15 kids and 20 minutes of playtime per week so you want to login get your gear and logout, maybe vanilla is the game for you.
There are guilds/players who’s skill peaked with Molten Core and there’s a perfectly good Anniversary realm for them. It is what it is. For those who wish to be more, there is a flash game that shows how to play the Amber Shaper mechanic.
Use the Addon: Fake achievement classic.
and Create any achievement they are begging to see. Most players are too lazy to inspect so you fake it till you make it
The only vicious gatekeeping considering challenge mode is the fact that you must run an authenficator on your account - otherwise you cant even start grp in the tool by yourself.
On the other statet point you make it to easy for yourself. View it from the other perspektive: the people who have 9/9 already >progressed< trough those dungeons to get this archievment, often formed groups and taktiks by themselfs. That takes time and effort. Why would they bother carrying a person, who hasnt visibly spend the same time and effort, for free? If you dont wont to spent time to progress it with friends or random people with same experience - buy it from the money that your earned while doing other things.
The Archievment is only a pre-check anyway. If you bought it and cant play your class or know the dungeon you will be very likely removed anyway.
