Yo peps, i’m trying to play some arena games to farm gear rather than playing loads of bgs.
i’m not expecting to win many as my gear is mostly from last season, but why have i faced a fair few people with pvp ilvl290+ when my cr is super low? i’m playing with a new healer whos the same cr as me with not much xp. Most games are showing the opponents cr to be around 1.2-1.5k so it’s difficult to win.
how you suppose to beat players with such high gear when you’re not even over combatant rating…
more of a rant then asking for advice, but anyone else geared a low geared char via just grinding rated and finding similar issues?
so i’ve done my placement matchs as i’ve played 15 i think? and i’m still fighting players in a challenger and combatant II bracket? sounds silly but that’s dishearting to players trying to get into pvp properly
Stop winning. Just lose over and over again. You need your MMR to reach your CR, and by winning you’re making it take longer. Just keep losing 'til your MMR is super low. You don’t need your MMR exactly where your CR is, but at least get it down to something like 800 if where you are now is too high for you.
Last time people were doing these tricks en-masse was in WoD iirc. Sure is nostalgic.
Nobody starts on 0 MMR. They start on an elevated MMR with an increased instability, meaning you get more MMR and lose more MMR per game, until it’s stabilized. MMR can also start higher if your MMR was higher last season, so on and so forth.
Point is, you want easier games so you need to bring your MMR down. And you winning a couple of games is counterproductive towards that goal. Just bring the MMR down further before you start playing for real.
This is what people did all the time in WoD, to gear up newly dinged chars.
