59 but it no longer boots you out - you get a quest with a scroll to use when you want. I imagine it may boot you out if you continue to 60.

Oh my … This is absolutely AMAZING! I started playing wow again 6 or so months ago, and I was SUPER enjoying chromie time. Then my drood just hit lvl 50, and I get a popup saying I have a minute or so left of chromie time.

They did it because SL where so dispised by many that they rather made BfA Mobs scale up to 60 so you can skip SL and play instead something else.
it boots you out when you enter stormwind between 59 and 60. But you can go back to chromie and continue in the expac where you were. i was xp locked by the time i did that
Yeah I just discovered that recently, I was very annoyed. Glad you can go back though.
So when is better to stop exp gain - at level 58 or 59?
Probably 58 so that you don’t have to keep changing when you go to a city.

Its 59 when you get the message. 60 is the end.
It’s kinda rude that they boot you out and basically force you to do the latest expansion, even if you’ve been through it multiple times.
It actually boots you out at 60, so I don’t really see a point in the scroll other than being a poor man’s hearthstone.
