getting real sick of guilds that invite me, and then cos I log off to go to bed, y’know, cos I need to sleep… and log back on in the morning and I’ve been kicked because apprently I’ve been offline for 48 hours… at this point I’m going to start declining every guild invite I get cos they all seem to be very anti sleeping and other normal human nessceties to y’know… LIVE. I dont understand why guilds keep inviting people and then kicking them cos those people log off for 8 hours… have then not heard of this thing called sleeping???
The real issue here is why you’d accept a random spam invite in the first place?
seemed like a good idea. I’ve been playing wow since summer last year, and still havent joined a guild. and from the experience I’ve had with being kicked for logging off to go to sleep, I dont think I want to at this point.
My Horde alts on a different server will join any guild just to get faster hearthstone CD. Not sure there’s any other benefits. I never even look at the guild bank for these. I may have said hello if someone greeted me first.
I do think it’s time to allow us to create our own guilds without needing signatures. This restriction is a rather qaint throw-back to days of yore when players did speak to each other at random meetings. It feels a bit like when people say “you could leave your doors unlocked back in the day…”
You’d need some restriction Iguess to stop someone have 12 guilds on one server. Maybe 2 guild masters per server or similar.
I mean sure, its convenient for you and they get whatever they get out of it.
I’m not sure if you’d get mad when someone you never knew or cared about kicked you for weird reasons you didn’t understand or matter to you.
The OP is guessing its because they sleep. I mean sure
No, I just say meh and wait for the next random invite and click accept. I think I have some alts in no guild too as no random invite came, which is also meh.
I don’t play these alts that much. Generally they’re running old raid for mogs and mounts.
Some very bizzare guild names out there. One or two of my alts are in a guild called Creme Egg Protection Society. Sounds a bit like something from Willy Wonka or something…
Waaay back pre wow I was one of the GM on one of the biggest guilds on SWG (MOB on Bria for anyone old enough to remember)
Our recruitment process was strict.
No one under 30, and an application form to find out more about the player than their character.
We wanted people who were a good fit as a person, not a player.
That would come. We were looking to build a community. And for many, many years we did.
Still in touch with a few of them despite the game dying over a decade ago.
The concept of joining a guild from a blind invite is utterly abhorrent to me!
If you’re looking for one, do some research, ask questions.
Make sure they are right for you and you for them.
(Which is why I run guildless!)
I have never found a good guild via a random invite.
I block them (can’t get random invites) on principle.
Bria players represent!
Wasn’t part of MOB, but definitely saw you peeps run around a lot :3
because even the guilds I’ve requested to join, still kick me for logging off and going to sleep and then have the audacity to try and invite me back, and when I’ve asked why I was kicked, they try and claim I was offline for 48 hours… I wasnt. if guilds in wow require you to never sleep and always be online, then what’s the god dam point?
I’ve made my own alt-guild. With that, I can list in the guild finder, log my alt, request invite, log back on the GM of that guild and accept.
Guild perks and everything.
ngl, but this sounds really…weird.
This is a good QoL improvement. I used to have a IRL friend in my alt guild just to do these invites. He has his own guild which I had an alt in.
Just wish they’d make forming the guild easier too, get rid of signatures. Or allow my alts to sign it…
there are people out there who own guilds and run mass ginvite scripts to invite as many people as they can into their guild because it gives them benefits, like 10% of all the money they loot being copied (not taken, important note) over to the gbank
you are being farmed for gold probably
my advice is don’t just join any guild because you havn’t yet, put some effort into finding the right one for you (best place is often your realms forum) and get in with a group of people you actually like.
How do you block them?
A guild on my server adds every alt I make. Drives me insane. I presume they have a bot or something.
options > social > block guild invites
this does mean that you have to turn off the block once you are expecting a ginvite from a guild you want to join but that’s a small price to pay for peace and quiet
The fact that the guy is sleeping for 2 full days every time he goes to bed is really odd
Are you sure it wasn’t to create a guild?
I’m in my own guild as I’m comfortable with that (though I still haven’t managed to get my horde character into it).
I would never answer a random invite. Sometimes a guild will say in chat if they’re looking for members and, in that case, they will normally tell you about the guild, what they expect of you and what you can expect from them. They are different to the random invites you get.
Back in the day, most guilds had websites and you could make applications there. Don’t know if that still happens.
There’s quite a few suggestions in the thread - I hope you find the right guild for you.
Same here. I only have my own guilds for my characters. Let me know if you’d like help to get your alt/s in your guild.
