These days, while discussing Headless Horseman, I wondered what makes a mount perfect. Putting aside rarity that make us feel "elite", when we obtain a rare drop mount. So what's the perfect mount according to you?
For me, the perfect mount is the best not only on ground, but in the sky too. I hate mounts with huge wings (that's why I never tried to obtain dragons). The smaller the mount is, the better. That's why my top favorite mounts I regularly use are: Warlock class mount (wingless Horse), Red Flying Cloud (Pandaria mount) and Invincible (this one has wings, but they're small). I'd like to have the broom from Headless Horseman as a permanent mount. It would be perfect.
A ground-only mount can be perfect for me, if it's exotic. Amongst my favourite I own are: the Ramkahen exalted rep camel, Brewfest Kodo and Ram (I love them, because they're the only way to play opposite faction mounts), my Karazhan Fiery Warhorse. As well as Llothien fox. And I bloody love my unicorn! So far I have only one (the lowest honor level one), but I'm close to another one.
One of the dreams I have in game is a chicken mount. OMG... I really desire this, even if it's ground only! The only chicken mount currently available is the Magic Rooster, and it's so rare due to being tied to a card game. I'm sure that if Blizzard make a chicken mount in the Battle net shop, I'm buying it right at the moment.
And there are those mounts I avoid:
1. Core Hound - this mount was obtainable in WOD during Ragnaros event. I have it, but it's too big for my taste.
2. Dark Iron Core hound. A smaller version I got from unlocking dark iron dwarves. Just doesn't look good on my void elf.
3. Minion of Grumpus... I mount it usually on Winter Veil. But I'd rather prefer a better Holiday mount. Again, it's too big for my taste.
4. Mechanostriders. Too ugly for me.
5. Swift springstrider from Noblegarden and the Lovebird from Valentine's day or whatever the festival was called in WoW. Um... the color is unnatural.
6. Trained mounts from WOD garrison. I can't say a specific reason, but I never fell in love with them.
And there are those mounts I'm neutral towards, but I use it due to convenience.
1. 2-seated mounts that allow me to carry a friend. The mekgineer chopper and I also can transform into a dragon.
2. The mammooth from WOTLK (I don't have pandaria vendor mount). Need it to repair myself.
All I care about is if it works with my Transmog.

Ground mount that looks like ground mount but is able to fly. You can add shapeshifting to that~ I would love to get transformation into vampire bat.
A horse.
Being a moose really helps make a mount better
But I really like a armoured mount and would love to see more of these. Especially a armoured moose obviously.

A small mount that can fly.
Small so I can get inside buildings without dismounting (can't get in small doors with dragons for example, so i never use them).
I don't have many mounts and I hate the rng to farm the good looking ones, so I'm sticking with the heroic archimonde mount that fits my needs.

Ground = Goldenmane. It matches my transmog and since my racial charger has yet to be updated to 2018 standards it's the best mount for a Blood Knight. I'm glad the Horde finally has access to a decent Horse.
Flying = This is more difficult, since there aren't any flying mounts that fit my transmog that I currently own. But I've always loved the Spawn of Galakras. I'd like to get a HD golden Dragonhawk one day though.
Waterwalking = I prefer the red strider, but I'm still farming that out (slowly but surely).
Convenience = The Transmog Yak will always be infinitely more useful to me than the AH longboi.

Night Elf Hunter/Warrior/Rogue/Demon Hunter/Priest/Mage: Teldrassil Hippogryph and Black War Tiger
Night Elf Druid: Flight Form (normal one, not the awful Legion one) and Cheetah Travel Form
Human Paladin: Paladin Class mount from Legion
Dark Iron Shaman: Grand Armored Gryphon and the racial mount
Blood Elf Warlock: The chicken thing and not sure what flying mount to be honest.

My favourites have always been the goats. Nothing fancy but they look like the kind of thing I would end up with if I adventured IRL!
The mounts Im not keen on are those that shrink you to a tiny size because they are too big and anything that give me motion sickness when I ride it.

Tomb Stalker is my current favourite and go-to ground mount. If I had it, the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent would be my go-to flying mount, but since I don't, the Astral one is my compromise.
I try to have a proper ground mount and a proper flying mount for every character that fits with the transmog I use, for every spec that I play. I don't use a mount, no matter how cool or rare, if it doesn't fit with the tmog, nor would I ever use a flying mount (like a dragon) as a ground mount. It fitting lore-wise also helps.
Ironically, it's my main (this) character that I have the most troubling finding a good combination of mounts for. I love the tmog I got now, the Lightforged Warframe is a perfect fit as a flying mount, but damn I just can't find a good ground mount... the AotL paragon mount is pretty decent, but the colors don't match that well, and using horses on a male draenei looks ridiculous.

2 mice, one under each foot. Occasionally, when flying, they go miaaaaow or bark just to confuse everyone.
As theyre flying, a slight rainbow leaks out behind em. If you give em a bit of cheese before takeoff, they grow little wings.

Mecha MK.
Perfect for my upcoming Tinker Class Junker Gnome.

High poly count, HD texture, fitting theme for the character
For me the closest thing to a perfect mount is the Huntmaster's Fierce Wolfhawk.
Its the perfect size.
It looks good on the ground & in the air.
It fits perfectly with my mog.
I love wolves & birds.
I earned it through questing & levelling an Artifact I didn't use & didn't just get lucky with a drop.
The ONLY thing I don't like is the armour.
It stabs itself in the neck with it's shoulder armour & honestly would look better with just the neck brace, quiver & traps.
The perfect mount for me would be the Huntmaster's Fierce Wolfhawk with less armour, a transmog vendor, repair vendor, auction house, stable & mailbox.
Just add a cute Vulpera NPC on the back of it with me that does all of it lol.
