What's your top 3 Best PvP expansions (Rate opinion)

  1. Cataclysm - the expansion I started playing I had so much fun, the best feature added is RBGs, we were able boost friends to 2400 ratings, the class design were awesome

  2. Legion - Introduction of the Stat templates and the Best Borrowed system was Arrifact weapons and powers, I had so much fun to grind them to get stronger. The class designs I enjoyed so much are Affliction Warlock, MM Hunter, Fury warrior, BM, Enh, Havoc, Fire mage. They didn’t have too many spells to be put on the second combat action bar

  3. Warlords of Draenor - Ashran was a great epic BGs, introduced one of the best frost death knight spell called Breath of Sindragosa

Not taking balancing into consideration in any way what so ever im gonna have to say i quite like DF in terms of potential. Most frequent PvP balancing we´ve ever had in wow history, no mandatory grind, no borrowed power, PvP shop etc. Fun PvP consumables for those enjoying world PvP.

DF PvP obviously has its issues such as current deflation, low participation etc but i dont think its all that gameplay related in the first place but rather poor advertisement for the expansion itself that dident get people hyped due to bland trailer n caused fewer returning n new players but also SL disgusted alot of people, myself included to the point where i think alot of people simply gave up on the game all together.

Most people would just rate PvP expansions based on the time period their class was the strongest paired with high inflation which gave them a happy number. I dident hate cataclysm but i do have trauma from the rogue walmart legendaries that made shadowmourne look adorable in comparison n unlike shadowmourne these were full on charity legendaries which resaulted on rogues completely taking over.

So without taking any personal bias into consideration for when my favorite classes were strong/weak i´d have to say DF would rate very highly for me as a PvP expansion.

I dont know if people actually remember this but back in the days if your class/spec was crap it was going to stay crap for 6-9 months before blizzard bothered to fix it. Infact it was so bad that i quit in the first patch of BFA because unholy dk was completely unplayable n i dident return to the game intill around season 3 shadowlands. Now dk is crap again but im fine with that because they actually do frequent balancing so i know ill be able to enjoy my favorite class/classes eventually n that alone is worth alot to me.

  1. MoP
  2. WoD
  3. DF/SL

Legion was absolute garbage for PvP.
It dumbed down class design and pruned way too many abilities.
Not to mention the AP grind and alt unfriendliness.

The best PvP expansions are the Golden Era:

  • Cataclysm
  • MoP
  • WoD

It’s that simple.

Dragonflight is actually 4th because it deleted PvE from our daily chores, and the gearing system is really good. It’s flawed and this season is rough, but overall it’s a very PvP-friendly expansion.

That´s false

Legion didn´t force us to PvE, only BFA and Shadowlands

The only best borrowed system had Legion

The Worst borrowed system had: BFA and Shadowlands

In Shadowlands without legendaries were almost unplayable, and it repeated an expansion after BFA (Forced to PvE)

In Legion We didn´t have to use Legendaries for PvP, Just getting luck to get Stronger

Legion Legendaries are still better than SL´s Legendaries

No. You needed to grind AP to max out your weapon.
Remember the Maw?

The best borrowed system is no borrowed system.
Legion is to blame for introducing this garbage in the first place.

Of course Legion is “better” if you compare it to what it spawned.
BFA and Shadowlands are Legion patches, nothing more.

Everything you hate about these two is a direct result of Legion’s massive shift in design.
Legion is to blame for everything that sucked afterwards.

You mean the dungeon named “Maw of Souls” ? Yes, My guild friends and I spamed there few times, even with alts

So much great fun!

I know you did. We all did. We had to, because it was the best way to grind AP so we could finally play PvP.

PvE is never fun.

I am Both PvEr (Raider and Dungeoner) and PvPer until I left WoW a month ago

Cool for you.
Plenty of PvP players hate being forced to do anything that’s not PvP though, and Legion was full of that.
Hell, we even had to grind our PvP talents if you remember.

But Legion’s biggest issue remains that it removed a third of all spells and class mechanics from the game.
Braindead expansion.

Id probably say
Cata | WoD | Legion

1)WOTLK (when it was current not the cr*p we have on classic, best memories were s7/S8 despite shadowmourne and deathbringer will)
2)MOP
3)Legion/cata

  1. MoP thanks to the class design

  2. BC because it wasn’t as bursty.

Can’t think of a third, most expansions have something I liked and other things I don’t liked.

Expansions I had less fun than average was Cata, WoD, BfA and Shadowlands.

I actually agree with these three picks.

WoD PvP was a bit lacking in terms of class design, but it was the most balanced experience to date. DF is okay, but participation is at an all time low.

BfA and SL were terrible with their insane gear disparity and endless grinding.

I tried all 3 Classic games so far as well, but they feel empty for me. Not my style. I am more into modern WoW.

cata mop legion so far, but dragonflight is getting there for me, we are not halfway through the exapansion yet.

and if im gonna drop one of these 3 for DF, its gonna be MoP, i had more fun in cata and legion than i had during mop.

Anyone putting DF in top 3 is on copium. DF is nothing close to the class designs of Cata/MoP and im almost 100 sure WOD/Legion was way better than DF. The only somewhat decent thing in DF is alt friendliness and it ends there. U need to be objective in these things, and objectively all DF has been is fotm, bad class identity imo, and adding precog baseline changing how pvp has worked for 15 years. I mean sure there were some good things, but Ret was prob the most broken thing ive ever seen through any expansion and thats with broken trinkets being avaible etc. The only reason say DF is because blizzard tried to tune etc in s1, but as we’ve seen now they dont care after expansion launch as usual, so i cant see it getting any better. I prob even liked BFA more than DF.

the community ahs made the game alot in what it is, arcane mage design is way ahead in df compared to cata and mop, legion being the exception

actually mag ein mop was just DEEP FREEZE burst

cataclysm was more fluid and less lame

legion arcane was the top design ive played so far.

I must agree with you.

  1. MoP
  2. Cata.
  3. Legion/WoD both were good for ME.
