If you have to clarify its because you can’t get a point across, not because people can’t read.
Sure I said… I deal a lot of dps as a healer and I am kinda having fun…
If people interpret that into me saying people should be doing nothing but minimum in their runs and get carried, that is really not my problem.
Why is there such an obsession of bottling things down to their complete basic? If a healer has downtime, they will damage. If there is damage going to go out, the healer should have adequate knowledge and sense to drop damage for a moment and focus healing - such as the bears at Halls of Atonement. And if the healer wants to be more cautious because they don’t know what can suddenly crop up, they can choose to damage a little less and be more ready to heal.
In before you said you have played all healer types and got Keystone Master on all of them. If that happened, I’m sure you didn’t get there by being an “AFK getting carried”.
the bears in halls are a prime example of where you shouldn’t be healing at that point at all, no cats should get through and no tank should be face tanking them ever
but then hunter can use binding shot and root the creeps in place for 8 secs. It’s not even a talent for mm, every mm hunter has this spell.
Ppl forgot that CC exists and is useful not only in PVP. They go in with cleave mentaility, expecting tanks to face tank a giant 2-3 pack pull so they can cleave it down (because that’s what was shown on MDI)
100% agree, I play a bear tank and get absolutely pummelled, I can’t blow all my CDs, keep agro and kite. My damage ramps up, I have no burst damage CDs besides INCarn and I really can’t face tank certain packs.
Dungeons are balanced around having INCarn on a 1 min CD. I also think that would be a terrible idea. I like tanks having different play styles but if you are not going to balance dungeons for these play styles then u will almost always end up homogenising tanks. Which is again a terrible idea.
That’s not the point. The point is a tank should tank, not run away from mobs with slows on them. It’s a complete joke. The whole reason DH is good right now is because they have a ton of mobility to kite.
How is that good gameplay as a tank?
Good luck using binding on inspired but lets say that does not exist. Even then, warriors, bears and DKs have really low damage compared to other tanks. Which is fine if dungeons were balanced for this but it also means unlike a DH we can’t blow CDs and then focus on kiting. It takes 18 seconds to stack my damage at the mo. My longest CD lasts 12 seconds. WHICH keep in mind is no guarantee I can stay in and stack my damage, so that I can kite. Cause of the anti tank mechanics. You might say well just kite and don’t worry about the agro. Again there are a lot of ranged attacks that can one shot healers and dps. A mage blowing his CDs will strait up die if I group and kite without keeping agro.
another thing is dungeon design. Crampy corridors + storming affix + kiting meta lololol
doing sanguine yday was utter fustercluck. That was like, the opposite of fun. Can’t see a damn thing and getting mob aggro every 5 seconds. How is this fun? IDK LOL
Too many people just like to be contrary in this thread. I agree with OP. I dont like the new kiting meta. Several tanks have problems with kiting, ie druid and dk, and tanking is already an unpopular role. It needs help to become more popular again.
From healer perspective i actually like it cause if tank is TANKING he will be dead and my mana will be spend on big heals xD i don’t like spaming one big heal to try save my friend tank. RUN TANK RUN…
Its not fun for ranged either, for example firemage and me as shadow priest want things a bit stacked otherise my AoE dps is trash. When the kiting starts, things de-stack and dps go way down im afraid.
Unless you are a tank that can jump around while holding 200% agro, tanking is simply not fun this expansion. Ofcourse, it depends on which dungeon. Some are far worse than others.
Yesterday, did a couple of +14/+15 keys for weekly and the DPS was basically DH/monk/Druids that switched from tanks to DPS because simply doing DPS is enjoying themselves, why stress themselves with tanking.
I used to be a big fan of Tanking, but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone this patch at all.
Rerolling MM hunter so that I can enjoy myself a bit this expansion, far far away from tanking pug M+, which is a horrible tanking experience.
When you have nightfae abilities that require you to stay in that zone ( MM hunters) - How do you kite exactly?
The kiting meta is so boring as a tank, I like being able to take damage / dodge out of things… not have to kite it to China to survive.
I’d hope that tanks actually become more tankier, but who knows.

Being able to kite a mob when my hp is low when i can heal myself is better the not being able to kite and getting battered to dead.

Maybe, people are not considering them because CC have short duration compared to the pull duration, are single target when aoe CC is needed, or limited effect or no effect at all on many mobs, and not all classes are equally able to CC stuff?
Plus, on top of having mandatory classes for dungeon bonuses and hero/brez we should also have mandatory CC classes for each dungeon? How about mandatory Kyrian war in every HoA run to spear in place the bears?
Kiting is partly what makes DH tanks so good for the job. Their mobility is very suited to the Benny Hill running around. It’s not a mechanic I think is fun personally.
Its fun, kinda if you like that sort of thing. Not my jam. Its not that DH is just suited and booted for the Benny Hill {great name for the tac, hope it sticks}. A lot of tanks can’t Benny Hill. My Thrash takes 18 seconds to stack. INCarn is on a 3 min CD. If you want to make bear work in higher keys. U need INCarn, convoke the spirits and Ursoc’s Memory. Which is fine, if you did not go kyrian so that you could be a better raid tank and have an external for various mechanics. Then natural orders will to indeed take said extra damage. Cause sometimes ur also tanking urself. Despite blizz saying that picking a legendary and covenant would not make certain content unavailable to you. It kinda has for tanks. Especially bear and DK. Who are the worst offenders for mobility and damage.
My elemental shaman agrees. With all the mobs being constantly dragged out of my earthquakes it is not very satisfying either.
