I just bought the champion’s treadblade today (gz me), and I have to wonder why this one is available and not the Horde one. Granted they were made for an event, but if one faction has got it why not the other, or at least have some sort of cross faction thing going on, similar to the mechano hog? I’m not one to use this phrase (not sarcastically) often, but this seems like alliance bias.
Now I’m not making a petition for this as I don’t know if that’s allowed and I’m already on 2 suspensions, but please like and/or comment to show your support for getting this mount back!
This is still one of the stranger chapters in WoWs existence.
I believe the original premise was that OCC would design two different choppers, one based on horde and one on alliance, and then there would be a vote for which bike was best and that faction would get a free mount in game.
Obviously, for Retri’s sake, there was a massive amount of horde bias involved and so that bike won (to be fair it was the better looking chopper out of two awful looking choppers) and thus the forums were up in arms because only one faction got a new mount and it was “Blizz’s favourite faction”. So to make it fair the alliance bike was made available at a cost.
So now we have the losing design available to anyone with the gold and the winning design only available to those who were active members of the winning faction at the time. (Or rolled the opposing faction to collect a mount they will never use unless they play both factions).
I don’t know when the cutoff for horde receiving the mount for free was but as soon as they passed they should have made it available for gold the same as the Ally bike but that would have made far too much sense and thus we are in this weird situation now.
I remember the backlash (was it during WoD?) on the forums. I have the Horde mount - but never use it. Not a fan of choppers, but still bought the Alliance version because it’s still +1 mount.
The horde is not available anymore for legal issues, so even if Blizzard were willing to make it availble they can’t. I am not sure if is true but over the years I readed in the forums that the legal issue was related to copyright because the creators of the winner bike owns the copyright of the bike design and they only agree to the original conditions of making the bike in the game available only during WOD.
bit of a stupid decision in that case if such action would legally tie their hands. but then again, blizz love removing things so… … …
why? removal of pixels for artificial scarcity is stupid. i have all mage tower skins and they should still be available for all imo.
actually tbh, the work i went through to get all the skins (esp healer, and to a lesser degree tanks) might be an underlying factor with why i dont like BfA so much. getting the mage tower skins at the end of Legion probably did burn me out.
