When will you get over Teldrassil?

If anyone is interested in more Erevien threads, you have more than 20 in the story forum.

Cheers.

In Fairness, Alliance had an Extra City (Theramore) so that was levelling the playing field, and yes, Gilneas was lost, but so was Kezan, so both factions are still kinda level.

As to people ‘Getting over it’
That’s a two pronged question. Should the Players have gotten over it by now? Hells Yes.
Should their -characters- have gotten over it by now, Hells No. Never Forget, Never Forgive.

I mean Technically Teldrassil was not a big deal, Darnassus was not a big deal, both were incredibly new things that were created by a Mad Druid who went on to serve Ragnaros. The actual -things- themselves were not a big deal. The Loss of life and sheer destruction however, -Is- a big deal.

Teldrassil was not a -sacred- thing, quite the opposite actually, it probably made many Druids a bit uncomfortable as it was a sign of one of their own, through Hubris, forcing himself on Mother Nature.
Darnassus was not a ancestral city of lore and importance, it had barely been around long enough for a single generation of Night Elves to have been born there, and those who were, would be children barely in their teens.

The -places- weren’t important. The loss of Lives Was Important.

As for Undercity and Sylvanas destroying it herself, that doesn’t matter. Look at History. When do you use Scorched Earth Tactics?
When you have lost.
The Alliance had won the Siege of Undercity, Sylvanas destroyed it out of Spite. The Soviets planned to do the same to Moscow during WWII but against the odds it held out, They were seriously intending to destroy their own capital to deny it to the enemy.

You don’t do that when you’re winning…

Would Sylvanas have Blighted Undercity if the Alliance were beaten off and had lost? No.
Was the cause of her doing so because the Alliance had in fact won?
Yes.

Nonsense post again, why am I not surprised…

Naturally, when Sylvanas gets her due.

Sorry to disappoint but there will be more developments on that front in SL. That story is not over yet.

Imagine having your friends and loved ones burned alive while being trapped in a big tree and being told to just “get over it”.

That’s the pain night elves (and Gilneans) are dealing with.

And yes, I would apply that same standard to the Horde given the Alliance’s past/future wrongs.

Are you over Silvermoon yet, OP? LOL

I still haven’t gotten over Gilneas.

Ehm…
Destroying the UC with your siege’s and jainas ship, dont tell me blight destroyed it like a good alliance angel… Blight was thrown after you destroyed it to make it useless…

Invading DazarAlor, killing the king and stealing off precious items and gold like common thieves…

I mean all this for 1 tree?
You got more than a revenge here nelf and its pretty obvious.

I mean I’m mainly a Horde player, and I don’t think Teldrassil is anywhere near done being brought up. It’s comparable to what the Scourge did to Quel’Thalas all the way back in WC3 - and that elven genocide is still being referenced to this day. Hell, the quel’dorei wouldn’t have rebranded themselves as sin’dorei if not for that bloody campaign.

No famous Night Elves died. S’true. An absolutely horrid number of innocents, families included, burnt to death atop that tree however. I personally don’t want for that to lose all narrative gravity, especially when other similar events are still being harped on about more than a decade after the fact.

Well, that’s not true.

No big important NPCs died, but lots of the named NPCs in Teldrassil are either confirmed dead or assumed dead.

The larger losses are more in the lore… We don’t see much of it in-game, but in-lore many civilians, even children died in that fire.
Very few were evacuated. As is symbolized by the quest you could do as an Alliance player. Where you could evacuate civilians, but no matter how hard you tried there was not enough time to evacuate them all. I don’t remember exact numbers, but I don’t think it was possible to evacuate even a third of the NPCs that it was possible to evacuate.

Personally I think it would be neat if they moved away from the “world tree” idea now, they’ve tried twice and it ended miserably each time.

Would be cool if they built a new city in Darkshore.

I’d honestly love for Hyjal to see the rise of a new Night Elf capital city, built around the roots of the final World Tree up there. Maybe in 10 years or so - wouldn’t want to lose raid tiers for it.

I’d settle for knowing why darkshore is dark…

But yes, rebuilding would be nice. The way this game is going, we’ll be living in Dalaran floating above a smoking ruin of a world.

Which isn’t a terrible storyline, but it can’t take this many years to get there without getting dull. If they want to do that, they have to destroy 1 city per patch, not per expansion.

Khaaaaaaan!!!

Would be very cool, symbolically speaking. But I think building a city next to the coast would make more sense logistically speaking

:man_shrugging:

Maybe they’d rather build it on the Zoram strand in Ashenvale. At least it’s brighter there.

I bet it’s more about that genocide than it is about the tree. It still baffles me how the story writers used the word without understanding how much impact it will have.

Close. My quote is from Star Trek VI, but it was Bill Shatner either way
