As it’s not very game changing for veterans, for newbies it potentially can be game destroying, instead of getting to know your class slowly imagine you realize you have 30 talent points unspent at the beginning of your adventure, for many people it would become overwhelming and make lvling much worse and boring.
Unless something changed in todays reset, this worked fine when I levelled up a character over the weekend.
You have probably just turned something off.
at least not on purpose, I didnt do anything with settings, considering that it could also happen for new players
tbh, if you find out can you tell me how to turn it off, I have never been able to work out how.
Can we separate new players in categories instead of calling every new player dumb or smth.
There are players who new to the genre/gaming as a whole and those who just entered wow first time, because I don’t know any player with atleast some experience in rpg who wouldn’t manually click talent tree after seeing it atleast once when new level comes up.
Also it works fine for me, notification after every new level
I asked my friend and he also doesnt get notifications when he lvls up to pick talent points so it has to be bug , also new players literally don’t even know how to change chat, I keep seeing people talking to group in newcomer chat instead, believe me, games literally have to hold hands and explain everything to new players.
That still doesn’t change what Dral has said. Some new players are irritated by the overly hand holding approach they get when starting WoW because it takes you through a tutorial in the form of Exile’s Reach. However those players we tell to stick with it until they have left the Island and reach their respective faction capital. Then they’ll be able to turn off the tutorial mode that is needed for the island in particular and they can edit their UI, move newcomer chat to another tab so they don’t have to see it etc.
Ofc there are players who don’t know how chat works or can’t /wave at Gor’Groth. Those people absolutely need newcomer chat or a friend to guide them. But even then there are lots of different levels of help needed. I wish there had been a newcomer chat when I started back in TBC. Everything is explained so much more than when I started. There was no breadcrumb taking you to the capital or explaining that there are professions, or any of the things they’ve added to the game over the past 10+ years. It’s a good thing.

games literally have to hold hands and explain everything to new players.
Just gen Z things?
It’s been a problem ever since we realised some of them can’t tell laundry detergent from food…
I’m happy about this change tbh, sometimes I don’t know yet what I want to pick and those reminders annoy me. Yes yes, I know I have a talent point, no need to remind me if I relog or whatever!
As long as new players understand there is a talent tree, and you get points during leveling, it’s ok would be my guess. Annoying people up to the point where they comply simply to get rid of the irritation isn’t great design imho.
The system likes to tell me I have knowledge points to spend when there is no more tree to spend them in. I do wish I could turn them off.
They are just as annoying, those peeve me in a very similar way! Bizarre that the game keeps harassing you when you can’t use them anymore, that makes no sense.
I think there was an addon that blocked them or stopped them but I’ve no idea if it still exists or is maintained
