Where are Draenei?

Just a question, where is this race?
When the war against the Horde started, there was no Draenei. When Teldrassil burned down, there was not a single Draenei soldier fighting against the Horde.

Many people started to think that Draenei just hate Night Elves, or they just don’t really care about the Alliance.
But that was until Shadowlands. Because in Shadowlans again Draenei do not take any actions…

All Alliance and Horde leaders will gather up to save the world, but Draenei are missing, again. Did Blizzard just forget that this race exist, and that this race is part of the Alliance, or it was done on purpose?

To be completely honest I think the writers just forgot about the draenei. I would have thought Sylvanas would have attacked the exodar to cut off the alliance supply from Azerite from kalimdor but hey.

Going off of the 7th legion it appears they have been superseded by their Lightforged counterparts, or just left on Argus or something.

That is also interesting, that in the book (small leaders stories) it stated that Exodar is fixed. Also in the Good War Saurfang was thinking to attack Exodar or Nordrassil after Teldrassil.
But in the same time, in Legion we found out that instead of Exador draenei made a totaly new ship. Also Horde does not count Exodar as strategic point in the Kalimdor, and they think that Teldrassil was the last strategic sea port in the region…
Like Exodar does not even exist…

In argus who do you see? Draenei and LF Draenei everywhere. Blizzard said the Draenei were severely weakened after the Legion and thus were recovering from the assault and could not muster big enough forces to aid in the war.

Probably because becoming Lightforged is simply a power-up without any kind of drawback, so there’s no point in not undergoing the process if you’re a vindicator or soldier.

The thing is that this is not true. During the Drustvar assault you can find a lot of draenei of both kinds Lightforged and regular ones, and during Horde questing you also fight against them several times.

Borbarsa already stated it but it’s probably true: The writers either forgot about them or simply ignored them similar to how they fully ignored the Vindicaar even though the ship was able to call down transporters which would have been really helpful during a certain evacuation.

But, cheap drama and shock is more important than logic and consistency.

Funny they said that. Orcs should be extinct by now, from all the war they waged on literally everyone and everything

Except it is true.

In Elegy, the Prophet Velen remarks that the Draenei are unable to send forces to aid the night elves on the mainland, but they are preparing for a Horde invasion of the Azuremyst Isles. That said, individual draenei did, probably, fight with the night elves as they have a small settlement in Forest Song and some draenei live around night elven lands, they were caught up in the combat at the least.

And about the Lightforged Draenei in Drustvar. The Lightforged draenei do not live on the Exodar, they do not fall under Velen and even in Drustvar we see them leaning quite heavily on non-Draenei for support, with Arom Stand Inquisitors and Purified Soldiers from non-Draenei races making up a sizeable chunk of “their” forces.

They were present in the BFA Cinematic tho… mage and a pally if I remember rite

Paladin definetly, mage were void or night elves, no?

I’m pretty sure those mages were night elves as Alleria, her Void Elves, Gelbin and the Gnomes didn’t arrive until after the Alliance broke into Lordaeron’s Capital.

Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder!

Been a while since I last played the intro!

They are probably in Argus drinking some Fel Margeritas and enjoying the shattered sun with their toes dipped in floating sand, gazing into the jagged landmasses flying in the air…

Home, sweet home!

Probably, the cast animation looked Draenish to me so assumed it was fem-Draenei.
Edit: went back and looked… yup they were elves.

This holds true until Blizzard needs an army of draenei for some purpose. Suddenly, there will be a giant army with mechs, spaceships and all other technology ready to go. As such any statement in that regard can safely be ignored, because it literally does not matter.

Hey, They have build an entire new gigantic flying spaceship under our nose, without showing it. Next time they need Draenei they will justify it with - time has passed for them to recover… and fairly after Shadowlands time processing it’s hard to argue

This is true for any race out there.

Remember, the blood elves and their neat extinction? the Orcs? the tauren? the gnomes?

Blizzard’s current Story team likes to portray Alliance as the ultimate Humans and their friends guild, for a good while now.

I can name numerous human story characters, can’t say the same for Draenei…

The Human-centric story can’t handle the already established hyper-advanced quasi-immortal aliens with two dimensional ship (or one and a half, the vindicaar at orbit - could we have the keys back Lightforged cousins? - and the Exodar. But most of the parts were used to build the Vindicaar, the Exodar is … Argus know in what condition, but good enough for Saurfang considered it a target. But I guess quickly realized its not too wise to piss off space goats with rayguns…)
Where are the Draenei now…? Some of them were with Anduin when he attacked Lordareon (you could spot one or two in the cinematic)
But I guess they were only a token force, personal friends, members of the army, etc, than a real official support
Velen is a wise old goat and at the moment the Draenei are more or less endangered species on Azeroth and don’t forget, Velen is a very old immortal, like many other draenei, older than the civilization on Azeroth
Elder races have the habit to do… nothing or act slowly, either because they see the curent event foolish or in their wisdom they step back to let the younger races to forge their own destiny, make their own mistakes and so on
And while the expansion is raging almost what two years now? In the timline all those events happened in a short time period, not long after they lost too many on Argus - even with the Lightforged boost
The Draenei/Lightforged/man’ari eredar that taged along (like Val’zuun the man’ari Eredar informant in Dalaran) simply just got back to their new home after heavy losses… Velen remained as a more or less independent advisor of Anduin, some blue Eredar joined the army and went to attack Lordareon, and the Lightforged formaly joined the alliance and defended Drustvar from he Horde. And some of the Exodar Peackeepers - if you take the mission table followers canon - went on several skirmishes around Azeroth
The Draenei are not dancing in the spotlight, but they are here, but a bit slow to react… or Velen saw something (or got some info when the mag’har orcs arrived) for example about the things happened in AU Draenor and decided it is wise to not get involved too much, or the Horde, thanks to their new allies from there would see the Alliance no better than the Mother of Ligh’s fanatical army that force you to the light… thus endangering the fragile peace with the triggerhappy Horde…
Who knows?

Yeah, Velen is so wise and so patient, he waits an average of 3.5 expansions to do anything relevant. Best race leader, 10/10 would elect again.

Still alive and kicking… more than you could say several of the races, including the humans (Varian is fel-dust at the moment and the new human racial leader is his… friend. Its easy to picture Velen in the opera with anak… Anduin saying "The Light is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be… unnatural . " while glancing to Calia)
