Where are the bards?

I mean…if these bard npcs don’t work may I have the rogue class hall one’s hat? It’s so cute and I want it

Yes, you do.
Add NPC bards and then add a bard profession for those who’ve completed Loremaster, maybe even make it so they have “morale” buffs they can give to their party, maybe a bard could give them rested exp if you log out near them or something.

Tons of potential

I don’t need a morale buff. I need something handsome, entertaining to look at, that is lyrically and melodically capable. The intellectual, artsy version of a warlock’s demon pet. u.ú

Also, we need to be able to choose between instruments. A flute playing 24/7 can make you quite aggressive. Especially if the tunes ain’t sitting right.

Agreed.
FF and LOTRO both have bards and the ability to actually play the instruments, but they’re very standard midi sounds, they aren’t great.

I’d love it if Wow added bards and REALLY went to town on getting quality samples, hell, samples I’d happily provide them with for free, it might seem like it “adds nothing to gameplay” to most, but having some good emote options with a bard(s) who plays real time music in-game is quite an experience, and I’d love Wow to deliver that experience better than any other game. That’s just the experience side of things though, they should absolutely be a fully fleshed out class that’s unlocked by getting Loremaster!

I don’t mind them as a class as long as the fun factor of a talent to be learned is assured. I can’t wait for three unskilled bards throwing out wrong notes in raids terrorising the entire group with their mediocre singing and playing talents. Something like Troubadix from Asterix.

The quality of their performance could be dependent on their gear or consumables. If the bard isn’t buffed, didn’t take buff food or flasks everyone will recognise by their horrible acoustic. If they are fully buffed though, they could unlock an additional loot drop or soothe the enemy, so it makes less damage.

However! I want a personal bard pet for Loremaster, still. ù_ú

All of the yes.

hero classes are cool and all, but if they were to overhaul the leveling content I’d love this as a new “normal” class that starts at level 1.
And yeah, it’d take a lot of work to get it to function like this, but if there was a skill curve to be learned, perhaps the rotation for each song has a different GCD, or “Tempo” as we musicians call it, so before going into an instance you genuinely need to get a feel for that specific song, so someone who just wants the buffs for a raid can’t just boost a bard and then read icey veins for instructions on how to play.
MAYBE if you get really good at it and well practiced you’d be able to weave different spells, or “notes” in this case, between songs, a sandbox for experimentation and learning to see what works and what doesn’t etc.

give us our own Jaskier who follows us around and sings after we kill world bosses or complete world quests

Well I can tell you one thing…

Vulps won’t be the most hated player choice anymore.

Orcs don’t sing, they start bar fights.

My favourite Blind Guardian song. Though I like the “In the Forest” version better.

I would love a Bard profession, not much a class.

The way I see it the profession would work as a collection tab containing the instruments and partitures the character unlocks.

The partitures would unlock new partitures through playing the previous ones correctly, and it would be learned and developed in music schools on certain cities.

The instruments may or may not be unlocked by leveling the profession but it would be nice that different crafting professions were able to make them and sell them to players, or maybe the school sells them to you by gold or gift them as prizes because of your great work studying music, and maybe you could get some by playing certain partitures in certain places (imagine a cool event with the faerie dragons in Tirisfal by playing music along with them or something of sorts).

Of course that would be the streamlined workings of the Bard profession to set it on some sort of progress through it, but outside of that you could play whatever you like anywhere with players hearing your music (or noise) by playing the notes you want or following one of your collected partitures (or looking at them on the internet).

That would be so neat.

That could work, the only problem is it would suffer the same fate as archaeology, half-arsed implementation.

There is a Pandaren girl, who is kind of a bard in Halfhill Market, not everyday, but when she is there for 2 gold , she plays a pandaria music/song
She is basically a jukebox
But very sweet idea

That gave me an idea - along with player housing i’d love a wood working profession, and with the new profession trees maybe one of those trees could be carpentry and maybe another could be a Luthier (builder of instruments)

With dailes, like the cooking dailes to play music, sing in a tavern or somewhere
Guitar hero-like minigame even?
I would love that

Have you looked at composing in Black Desert Online?

Some times we need just a bit of faith, but I understand that with this development team it can be very hard to give.

If it’s build correctly, there could be daily activities on cities for different professions and some daily or weekly quests for things that aren’t professions that makes people gather or at least walk by at different places during the week.

Just imagine if staying for a bit on a tavern gave you certain buffs to do world content as if your character has rested there and is full of energy (of course buffs that would be wiped upon entering instanced content), maybe even a way to stack the XP buff faster by doing things there making so maybe doing a quest on a tavern gives XP buff equal to 2 hours of disconnected XP buff, some players would go there to hang for a bit then go back to leveling.

I don’t know, anything that would make players gather at a place and encourage chatting would be nice.
