Dragonflight looks like a huge step in a positive direction gameplay/system wise,
But without an interesting world with relatable characters and stories, those systems are wasted.
Great systems are pointless if the players aren’t engaged in the world.
So I ask… where are the bards that sing in taverns of tales of heroism? Where’s the old orc who sings about the horrors he saw after walking through the dark portal?
Where are the highborne bards who dwell on what became of their people?
We literally got told sylvanas’ brother was a bard, now we need more bards in game, maybe even as a profession!

Orcs don’t sing, they start bar fights.
The things we do would be the stuff of nightmares for most people.

if i knew the lore better i would type up a tragedy about the life of saurfang …
but i never really payed enough attention to the lore in this game honestly just does not grab me.
Aye it would, but that’s always the case with real life too, we glamorize horrible events and convince ourselves it was an epic to aspire to relive/achieve.
In order for a fictional world to be relatable… well, we need to find it relatable.
And having bards and NPC’s who are painters or poets etc is a solid way of grounding a world that’s otherwise unrelatable due to the fact it’s full of magic and dragons etc.
There should absolutely be a traveling bard, that maybe Saurfang saved in Northrend or in BFA, that tells the tale of “Saurfang The Savior” around the world.
That’d be super easy for a bard to turn into an epic tale of heroism.
We could make him pink and put pretty bows on each tentacle. And a kitty, always a kitty.

Outside of RP its pretty pointless considering how sparce the inn’s are, inside of RP im pretty sure a player would rather do it than it be left to some random NPC.
I kinda like AION’s Bard class
I mean a Bard that can shoot an unicorn from harps, called down giant musical notes to squish people and turn people into dancing penguins… what not to like?

Nah it wouldn’t be pointless, it helps flesh out the world, and it’s a fantasy MMO so that’s kinda important.
Though I do agree, a bard class or profession would certainly be more exciting.
With them re-establishing core gameplay systems and adding accessibility settings that only really stand to benefit people who play with a controller, I, unlike most do think they’re going to be doing a major world revamp soon, and adding more towns/cities with inns and bards etc, it might not add anything from a “gameplay” perspective, but it would certainly add a whole lot in terms of an experiential perspective.
Warcraft can’t keep relying on books to flesh out it’s world, not when it’s industry standard to deliver a full game and story experience.

Especially if those are not “carved in stone” informations and regularly retconned left and right…

Exactly…
The whole thing needs overhauling really, including how content is released.
The games industry has changed, MMO’s have changed, people who play MMO’s have changed, and it’s way past time that WoW embraces that change.
It feels like a lost cause, but it really isn’t, just needs someone with passion for the IP who has a solid vision for what the game can become, with the technical know how of how to run their team in order to realize those ideas.
Ion’s a systems guy, he really shouldn’t be leading a full MMO project.

Way more important: Where is MY bard? I’ve achieved the title Loremaster a literal decade ago. I deserve one…
