So I’ve been thinking for some time. If frost mage has water elemental, shouldn’t fire and arcane get their respective elemental aswell?
i get the idea but why would you want mages to share the same pet mechanic?
Water elemental is an “iconic” ability for mages from W3 and it’s stuck around for Frost. A lot of classes/specializations no longer has their iconic abilities though, so Blizzard picks very arbitrarily what is and isn’t important to class identity.

Glyph of arcane/water ele skin will be great…but i like only frost spec anyway.
They can conjure them, but not in game.

My Elemental sla- cough companion resides within my prized magus staff - Aluneth!
As a fire mage i would like to have my own fire elemental as a companion. If frost mage can choose to not have a elemental in their build, why shouldnt the others have this opportunity aswell. Is there some kind of explenation why they are not able to or it’s just that Blizz decided they are not important
