Hey! Long-time hunter who likes minmaxing for PVE and PVP reasons. I’m just wondering what others hunters think of us being forced to use certain pets? For example, in PVP you have to have undead/mechanical and only use pet with healing reduction effect. To me it’s extremely boring because I have broken tooth (which for nostalgia reasons) I just wanna use all the time. Pets are supposed to be something you collect over fancy (it’s also nice that it fits your character, a night elf with a raptor is just… weird).
So the second question is: what happened to pet talents? Why are we not able to choose a pet, spec him with desired abilities and live our merry lives? This would mean that I could make a cat a tank with healing reduction abilities if I wanted to. Then I could switch that when I’m leveling or doing mythic+. Choice! I understand that you can’t force the undead or mechanical typing on every pet, but the talent tree should make a comeback.
I’d almost rather have them being cosmetic, than how it is now.
Then at least I could use the pet I wish to… not the one I have to. If that makes sense.
A few expansions ago, you could pick your own pet spec, it let us do whatever we wanted with the pets we wanted, there will still some optimal pets. And let’s be serious there will always be optimal pets unless they take away all the skills and give them there own talent tree.
Which on one hand removes what makes the pet special
But on the other hand would make any pet usable regardless of what it is.
At the moment I feel like i’d rather have them be cosmetic with talent trees you can pick from.
Since I’m mainly playing SV nowdays I can’t even use the pet I really want to use even if they DID let me pick.
