Do any good leaders exist in the setting anymore?
Both instances are true until a followup is written. The canonicity will be then determined whichever faction the developer happens to main. (Likely Alliance)
Mekkatorque was a raid boss, cheated death, and did so entirely through science.
Just gotta look past the whole Chergnomebyl thing.
I was gonna say Velen but then I remembered how he just leaves the racism against the Broken unchecked…
One of strangest thing to come out of BfA’s writing was Sylvanas sudden weird tension to Anduin about calling him “Little Lion” in a suggestive yet mocking voice and kept revisiting it in SL.
Wish she’d call me Little Lioness while keeping me chained in her basement.
she’s a windrunner and they are genetically predisposed to desire human males. it’s not her fault
Don’t make me smack you with this newspaper. ![]()
Or maybe the fact that the “golden goose” of WoW writing, unironically named Golden, is thirsting after Anduin so its just an extension of that thirst trapping.
And does it openly on X formerly known as Twitter.
But don’t say that out loud or they’ll come get ya’ ![]()
do you remember that part in bfa where sylvanas resurrected derek proudmoore as part of her grand unknowable scheme
I remember when everyone was speculating on if he was a time-bomb and it turned out to have absolutely zero impact on anything.
he truly was written just to be an undead bf for Calia
He was the bomb this time.
Bomb has been defused.
Counter-terrorists win.
if it was part of sylvanas’ plan, does that also mean it was actually part of the jailer’s? because if so it would explain why it makes absolutely no sense
Remember when she quoted one of Anduin’s lines from one of the books she wrote in order to show solidarity with Ukraine?
Fun.
People who quote themselves are generally pretty meh.
Oh god, I -do- remember that and I do remember calling it out on Twitter.
Good times.
i’d quote myself if i’d ever said anything of any mild importance or significance
I think, on topic, the setting isn’t irrevocably broken. Shadowlands did a lot of damage, and I really do wish they either hadn’t done it or would just… well, I know they won’t undo it, so it’s all kind of a moot point. So the best idea, imo, would be to just never mention it again.
There’s various single points that could be called quality dips, although tbh WoW has never had consistent writing quality from what I can tell. I think that goes for any big setting/IP where by necessity there’s multiple writers/teams.
The chain of failed/dead Warchiefs for Horde has been Not Great. Personally I would rather have gone with Garrosh from Cata being a little better as a leader and, even if he still followed the MoP/WoD arc, lean harder into Megatron style writing where he genuinely does things for the betterment of the Horde, albeit in a very, ah, aggressive way.
Honestly, I could wax lyrical about changes I’d make, but I think the answer to the original questions is more that there’s been chip damage over thousands of little points, rather than one ‘this broke the system’ moment.
