Everything is so confusing, cannot really find anything on support page it does everything it can to NOT let me contact blizzard. I’d like to get a refund on the game time because apparently my money from credit card got eaten after getting internal server error 500 while trying. Considering the stability of services while i was trying to make the payment and current state of servers id like to get that refund since it seems to be a waste.
Hate to break it to you, but you almost certainly will not get a refund.
What -might- happen (But in past experience is unlikely) is that everyone may get extended game time once they have fixed the myriad of problems.
I worked in Finance for years, what you are asking for is what is called in the trade a ‘Clawback’ on funds that have left your credit card, Blizzard can’t refund every customer financially, as there would need to be legal proof that every customer was trying to play the game but stopped due to Blizzard failings, for example, someone on Holiday would not be eligible, someone in Hospital would not be eligible, Someone who just hadn’t logged on or tried to whilst the problems were ongoing, would not be eligible.
And nobody can realistically prove these things. So in instances like this, the Consumer has to apply for the Clawback. However there too there is a limitation as to how that works with Credit Cards.
Let’s say you purchase an item for £19.99 (Or whatever currency), the company does not provide that item. There was a clear cost a clear financial amount that they have cheated you out of. Your Credit Card Company can actually Clawback that £19.99, They literally can ‘Yoink’ your money out of the people you paids account and return it to yours.
Businesses are very scared of that, because Businesses have Credit Ratings as well as people, and a Business with a serial tendency of defaulting on such things will find it harder to make corporate deals with banking.
So good so far. You have rights as a Credit Card holder, to get your money back.
But here is the problem. (I’m not saying you are in the wrong here, I’m just pointing out how it works)
They can’t Clawback an unknown quantity. It is a very complicated legal dance, and all the boxes have to be ticked to perfection, so lets say, two days now you have not been able to play, yeah? Easy, lets divide your sub into a daily figure, and multiply by two, and that is the amount you want to Clawback. Simple, right?
Wrong.
Blizzard could easily dismiss that figure on the grounds that you would not have been playing WoW for 48 hours solid. (I know sometimes we gamers get obsessed, but that is true, you can be logged in for 48 hours solid, but you are still having to take toilet breaks, and make yourself food, etc etc, also that is potentially lethal, 48 hours without sleep has been known to simply kill people, they just die of…uhh, death)
But who catalogues how long exactly they would have been playing, you could go “Well, I had a shower for about fifteen minutes, got dressed, had some breakfast, maybe about forty five minutes?”
Maybe.
Lawyers and bankers hate the word ‘Maybe’.
Basically you can’t prove how much money Blizzard owe you, and if you can’t prove it, your Bank can’t claim it. It just isn’t legally (or ethically) possible for them to act in such a way.
So really, all you’re going to get, realistically, is whatever scraps Blizz throw us to say sorry for the worst pre-patch launch ever.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but no point getting your hopes up.
Can’t really see anything there apart from a list of issues/news. Can’t see any ticket button
If you haven’t used any of the time and the payment definitely went through, try https://eu.battle.net/support/en/help/product/wow/166/1152/solution If that doesn’t work, make a ticket using Dottie’s link. Scroll down to where you can open a ticket. But try the other link first.
