Where does the wrathgate lead?

Occasionly love exploring old zones because why not

And It occoured to me, where in the world does the gate go? Is there an exit in Icecrown? Is it a tunnel that leads to inside ICC? If so can you see the other side of the wrath gate inside ICC or is the other end of it just not in the game at all?

Similarly to how ill never understand how the hole in the side of the black temple got there. Is there a quest?

So much wasted stuff in Wotlk honestly, like vrykul base balargarde fortress that looks epic but you cant enter…

The wrathgate is afaik another entrance to Icecrown/ICC.

A huge battle with the united forces of Azeroth VS the Lich king happened there.

There is a huge questline that leads up to it and the finale in the video I just linked, but the finale is no longer available in the game alongside the scenario the happens afterwards.

You can play the entirety of Northrends zone quests to get the gist of what happened, but without the finale and the aftermath you probably won’t understand what happened and have to resort to videos.

Spoiler for the events

After establishing a foothold in northrend, and dealing with various problems, the horde and alliance team up to fight the lich king infront of the wrath gate, there the lich king kills Saurfang the younger ( Saurfang’s son dranosh ) and then the forsaken show up and indiscriminately bomb everyone at the scene, killing most of the horde and alliance armies and massively injuring the lich king.

Afterwords, the red dragon flight appear and purify the area with dragon fire, and the Alliance prepare to launch an all out war on the horde by invading Undercity.

Meanwhile Sylvannas arrives at Orgrimmar and pleads with Thrall that there was a coup and an attempt at her life, this wasn’t her doing and rather traitors led by the dreadlord she kept by her side.

The horde marches to free the undercity while the alliance invades through the sewers, and after dispatching the traitors they both meet up and fight in the throne room, where jaina freezes them and teleports the alliance back to their city to calm them down.

well when u go inside ICC u kinda go in at “floor” X and while inside u go even higher, but wrathgate is like the basement lvl or garage per say. u wont see it inside the raid.

for the black temple part, if u notice there is a war at the entrance, that hole was probaly made by a catapult or something like that.

You seen LOTR? Think of it as that gate where the Mouth of Sauron comes out.

It’s a huge gate and wall between Icecrown and Dragonblight, you can see it on the map.

Ok thanks

But now you have me dying to explore the basement of ICC

Well, the Wrathgate leads into the Wrathgarden ofc.
