Where is class identity?

I have been playing lineage 2 reborn 1x that its a very old mmorpg with 20 years, its on the interlude chronicle and will update over the years to all good lineage 2 chronicles.

what i wanted to ask is,where is class identity in wow?

in lineage 2 all classes alone are very weak, but when you get together with a prophet or a dancer or a songsinger for instance, you become way more powerfull and the classes have sinergy.

in wow all classes look the same, all heal, all have stun, all have a aoe,the game is boring and tbh i dont feel any diference in social or gameplay about playing x class.

is there any change blizzard looks at lineage 2 and take some idead from there? since its taking ideas from final fantasy 14?

Throne and thunder is comming and its lineage 3 with other name , but tbh playing lineage 2 on reborn server its like a tru hardcore adventure, rather than a game that looks like only instances ,0 world and social interaction ,and 0 class identity.

also im unsubbed since wow now looks like a casino on mantainance mode, and dragonflight is not bringing any class identity or world interaction so i will be playing lineage 2 reborn untill throne and thunder becomes online.

oh also i forgot, why cant we sell our gear to others? why is soulbound still a thing in wow? in lineage 2 everything i buy can be sold to others sets, weapons, jewels, and most of the time you are poor in the game with 0 adena but having a nice set or weapon to sell for profit is allways good! remove soulbound from the game and let people play a real role playing game.

thanks!

Have a feeling this is a discussion more so fit for the general forums rather than Argent Dawn!
Eleboration: AD is a server for Roleplayers, so PvE has a more background approach, and the main forum dwellers here are within the aforementioned group, who may spend less time thinking into it

sorry but im unsubbed and forum doesnt let me post on any place only on realms forum and all are empty only argent dawn have some posts…

Hello, fellow Lineage2 player here, though I stopped back when it went free to play for the first time, it still has a place in my heart and I often listen to Dion or Hunter’s Village music .

I do believe WoW could learn and take from it, but at the end if you want class identity in here, you get it by doing roleplay and finding your own people to build a story, rather than through gameplay.

The reason why WoW classes are more well rounded n have abit more versatility is because the people of Azeroth are bigger and stronger and clevererer than those of Aden, they are more smarts where it comes to fighting and learning and reading and things hence why a puny Aden can only do this or that, but a mighty Azerothian can do everything, especially the humans, the male humans, Paladins specifically if were going to be specific, so could just be that you need to adjust to the stronger smarter people that are Azerothian, you’ll get there brother! happy gaming!

I think the class fantasy is still there, it’s just that WoW has changed and evolved over the years. Each one still feels distinct and still has specific useful utilities that other classes don’t (as a mage main I find myself very smugly enjoying portals and teleports all the time). I’d argue that each class feels distinct, it’s just that a lot of the storytelling and questing around the classes is lacking. One of FF14’s biggest strengths is the unique questlines for each class and it’s something WoW has had in the past, but it feels like the obsession with getting to endgame content has destroyed any chance we have of having elaborate questlines about getting stronger as a paladin while we level. :frowning:

I’m a nice person. I make sure to always target other casters, or the Healer, with my Focus Magic as a mage!

…That’s about the only Synergy I provide tho :frowning:

Have you ever played or looked at a mage? Or at least saw one of the 23904823 “bring back deep freeze” forum threads?

:skull:

I don’t know if you’re being serious or not - asking how WoW can be X Y Z while being unsubbed is a bit sus. That’s like saying X restaurant is awful, but not having eaten there in ages.

I don’t know how you can say they all have the same stuns, heals and looks - I will give you partial points on that last one though, I sincerely miss class-specific raid sets and the whole armour-type sets we’ve been getting aren’t enough IMO.

I also don’t know what content you do; nor how many classes you play - but I certainly don’t feel like they’re all the same.
Is the mobility on a warrior the same as it is on a paladin or DK?
Is the utility on a warlock (Soulstones, gates, healthstones, summons) comparable with the utility of a mage (Conjured food, portals, potential group invis)?
When you’re about to die in a BG or to aggro’d mobs, does a damage-dealing warrior, DK, rogue or caster have the ability to throw a Blessing of Protection on you like a DDer paladin can?
When your group healer is dead, doesn’t a class capable of battle-ressing i.e a druid/lock/DK suddenly shine?

No offense but this comes across as a bit of a troll. If not, then I hope these examples can give you a taste of the still-present class identity.

You never healed me in a raid Coldshade.
Terrible mage.

Have we ever been in a raid together?

The point is you’re a mage.

I wish my spec was the same as a destruction warlock.

Regardless, Some classes/specs play similarly to others but the majority are at least visually distinctive.

Because if they didn’t they’d quite literally not be played unless they did giga insane dps.

It’s an MMORPG

For most classes, what they’ve done with the new trees seem very cool and bring back some old abilities along with incorporating new ones to make interesting builds etc.

1: The game I feel would become incredibly stale if you could just sell your gear. 2: Boosting would become even worse than what it already is. 3: Blizzard would lose money.

Class consiousness is integral for any organized opposition to the neoliberal orthodoxy and building a more egalitarian society.

Oh, game stuff.

Well… I never played lineage but soulbound items are there to prevent reselling of items on auction.

Very happy to hear that another person was playing an mmorpg such as Lineage 2, yes it’s a FACT that Lineage 2 had this feel of class identity, but there’s a misconception to it,it had this class identity possibly on the retail version or various other Private servers that back in the day they were characterised as “Hardcore”, cause Lineage 2 if you wanted to play it right and thrive you have to responsibly take into account, the Mentality of your class beforehand and it’s skills, Like for example A Bladedancer had great solo value, especially in Interlude, A swordsinger did not at least after lvl 52?. A prophet made sense to be in parties and grind in areas like The catacombs or whatever. They also included the Need for buffers and summoners among others, and made a distinction of what the class mostly does, by the intrinsic charasteristics of the race you played, and the consequences you had by playing them. It’s also a Fact that World of Warcraft does not have this feel. but on the other hand it’s not particularly bad? I think?. And the reason for it is, Well, In Lineage 2 the hours you had to put in, the mindset of the char of what is supposed to do in a setting like pve and pvp, The work you had to put in socially with others to do something meaningful in a way forward among other things was a LOT!. And i don’t know about you But The community in most servers that were private was veeeery Toxic, It did not have Roleplay, and you needed to have a conscious mature mentality to distinguish That. But Yeah… Lineage 2 was cool. OH and that’s part of the reason in game the mentality was driven to a toxic , clicques, of people banding together and excluding others. Part of the reason also, i think, the game died, cause of the community. that did not have the clear consciense of playing a game that requires a lot to be enjoyed for. And they strayed to the toxic family of clans back in the day. I don’t know at least that’s my opinion.

I want warriors to have a death grip / grappling hook for more mobility. I feel like it fits the class well and who doesn’t want to see a holy priest trying to leap up into the air before getting slammed back down again making them unable to heal to full out of range from melee. It’d also help against kiting classes like a Hunter, Mage, Druid, etc.

Warriors should be warriors we have no mobility sadly. :frowning: This is the class fantasy I want.

Neridris , you played Lineage 2?. We need to Rp more often. And Talk about that. I mean i’d be happy to share my thoughts on that game. Also I don’t agree completely that Rp gives Class Identity to the Player, when he plays game.

No… but i get the pun… and i smile.

Charge, intercept, heroic leap. The PvP talent that you charge when you cast execute. Dragon charge. Warriors have a lot more than you think
