For goodness sakes… you are the creators of the game… let those that want to play on a Russian server play in English or Russian. I am not going to abandon 5 chars that I leveled to level 120 and all the hard work to play with friends because you are not willing to transfer or add English.
Instead I play alone and they do not play at all, grrrrrr.

I mean all other “nationality” servers have english option
but russian servers require additional russian files and everything’s russian.
so I think adding english at least as an option would be nice
Adding English to the Russian servers would help in improving the English of those who want to try it also.
I know for sure wow did have a huge factor in improving my English, damned grammar police ( thx btw ).

I’d guess it’s a translation issue and Russian realms have something that’s different on them.
Every language requires it’s own language files
Every language available except Russian can be used in every language servers except Russian.
I can can play on the Portuguese realm with French language while listening to the Italian soundfiles.
But to choose a Russian realm I have to restart the game with all on Russian.
Bizarre
You can play on german realms without having your client in German, likewise can you play on French realms without having your client in French. You can’t play on Russian realms without having your client in Russian. Likewise, you can’t play on Taiwanese realms without having your client set to their language.
It’s weird.
Actually it’s not weird, when you look at the history of the Russian realms. They used to be completely separate from the EU realms with a separate subscription, now they are tacked on to the EU region.

Judging by the amount of Russians I’ve met/seen that actually could speak English at all, it might as well be.
Probably because of the separate alphabet. They should at the very least allow you to realm transfer. Or could you even open another account, select an english realm and transfer them there? Is that allowed? 
That just means that you are living a sheltered life. English is our second language and back when i was in school it was our third after German. Incorrect… I’ve met lots of people from many different countries, the majority being European of course seeing as I am European myself…
My father has even been on business trips to Russia to help oversee the construction of some factory or other and he had to have an interpreter assigned to him because none of the people he was to meet with spoke English.
Granted there may be geographical differences, such as localized areas where spoken English is more common. But overall, Russians are not known for their ability to communicate in English.
Though I expect they have a higher percentage of English speakers than China, Korea and Japan. Due to proximity if nothing else.
I also expect the ability to communicate in English to be more common among the younger generations compared to the older ones, same as in any other country who does not have English as their native tongue.
The data I managed to dig out showed that Russia has a rate ranging from 8-30% when it comes to those who judge themselves able to communicate in English.
While for Scandinavia the numbers are upwards of 80-90%, Germany around 50-60% and anywhere between 50-90% for the rest of Europe.
Russia was it’s own region in the past. For example, if you made a seperate client for the UK why would you support any other language than English when English is the official language of the UK.

According to languageknowledge.eu/languages/english wich is based on the Eurobarometer shows my country under 15% wich I believe to be much more accurate than 50-90%
The situation you mention with the interpreter probably happens in most of Europe in serious professional settings where you cant rely on people who “hold a conversation” and need someone fluent with no room for misinterpretations
Not inflated… It’s just obvious that our sources have a different definition of “being able to speak English”.
If you’re going by fluently it will of course be lower, but if you’re going by capable or passable it will be lower.
I’ve never heard of anyone I know of using an interpreter when both parties can speak English.
According to my father he had to use an interpreter because the people he had to talk with couldn’t say anything more than “hi, bye, yes and no”.
And even that with a heavy accent.
EDIT: Which country do you live in by the way? 15% seems to me, extremely low.
My entire family speaks English without much trouble, most of my friends and everyone I work with except for the oldest ones who are close to retiring.
And my entire class back in school (10+ years ago) were able to communicate in English.
Looked through that link you provided, and I see Sweden is placed at 60%, for the age group 15-35, which I find very low.
It’s a neighboring country so it can’t be a lot of difference between Sweden and my country.
And in my country in the age group 15-35 almost everyone can communicate in English to at least a passable degree.
I don’t expect Sweden to be much different since both our countries have mandatory English lessons throughout most of our school years.
Yes we are allowed to transfer but that is not the point. English works on Russian server via certain addons. If addons show up in English then it is sure as hell can be changed. They refuse to do it because Russia is a di*k.
In Portugal and I agree that 15% seems too low but 50-90% seems very high even for the 15-35 years range. Maybe in tourism areas.
I’m nearing the top of that range and in my family only my younger sister can “speak” too, most of my friends can´t speak it and I learned it more by working a few years as a driver across Europe because frankly the english I was taught in school back then was laughable, not able to communicate at a passable degree at all by the end of the mandatory schooling.
The addons were probably written in English!
Question… Do you have a lot of English audio in your TV programs? Or is everything dubbed to Portuguese?
Here in Norway everything is in its original language and only kids shows are dubbed to Norwegian.
And it seems to me that the countries that dub a lot of programs to their native language have fewer people able to understand English.
I (and most people I know) was able to communicate in English to a passable degree by the end of the mandatory schooling. Though fluency is only achieved if you use it regularly, such as traveling a lot or playing online video games for example.
Nothing is dubbed except kids shows and I agree it might help (it helped me)but it has to exist a interest in the learning otherwise it’s just a mumble soundtrack while you’re reading the subtitles.
The mandatory schooling also recently went up to 12 years from 9, I dont know if in those 3 extra years english is mandatory but it might help if that’s the case.
I think most people from my generation just didnt bother because outside of working with it or using it online theres no interest. And the majority dont do those.
