I just wonder where is Malfurion, and why he will not going to join us in Shadowlands?
1). Tyrande manage to save Malfurion in Warcrat3. Later she manage to save him from Emerald Nightmare. Later she was trying to save him in Valshara. Also in BfA she manage to save him on DarkShores. Tyrande was always near when Malfurion was in trouble.
But now, when Tyrande is in trouble, when its time to pay back, he is just missing. It will be Feathermoon, Tyrande’s daughter, the one who will try to save her, instead of her beloved husband…
2). Ardenweald is strongly tided up with emerald dream and the Nature Cosmic realm. This place is best fit for any popular known druid of Azeroth. That is the base place for Malfurion to appear with questions e.t.c. But… he is missing…
So, I just wonder why Blizzard let him to stay alive in BfA? Just to ignore him in the places where he is best fit to?
The way they use him, Malfurion is mostly a life/druid/dream character, not mostly a Night Elf. The Night Warrior and saving Night Elf souls from the Maw are clear Night Elf stories. So he is sidelined. Expect to see him again when and if we explore the connection of Ardenweald and the Emerald Dream.
Because after the vast destruction the Horde has caused in Ashenvale and Darkshore he has some more druidic duties to fullfill.
Also the NEs need leadership currently and all of the leaders jumping into a portal with maybe even no way out sounds rather stupid.
We also know that Blizzard is looking for a new NE capital and since only 2 possibilities seem to be obvious: Hyjal and regrown Teldrassil, in both cases Malfurion would be the one responsible for preparing it.
So he has its duties in the world of the living guiding his people once again after a cataclysmic event, as he did after the war of the ancients.
Another reason could just be: He continues waging war with the Horde now. We know from Terrors of Darkshore that he is pretty pissed.
True.
His story was awesome and unfortunately not really told ingame.
We never experienced how he as a broken husk of a man weeping for the loss of his son a second time was brought to illidans prison, not to punish him but in the hope he would some day recover.
Out of shere griev that druid corruped Teldrassil by his own, by weaving in a nightmare branch he received from Xavius himselfb ytricking him to revive his son that way.
It is interesting what world endig powers an Archdruid wields when he loses a beloved one.
Malfurion also showed some of this when he thought Tyrande could die.
He was an Old God Pawn that ranked even beneath Benedictus and whose only notable feat while acting as such, was to sprinkle Malfurion’s dormant body with poisoning pepper.
his most likely being useless somewhere spamming his click quote of “we must protect the wilds” while doing nothing as others have pointed out nothing would have been lost with his death this is the man who cried storms in novels but the best he can do is turn into a bear ingame
the only npc more useless then malfurion is SI7’s so called spymaster
If, you’ll have some free time, could you tell me a bit more about Xavius?
The way I remember it, night elves using the arcane power of the Well of Eternity caught the attention of Sargeras. And Xavius was the one who led him in. But I could be wrong, it’s been a while since I’ve heard this story.
Xavius was the first Arcanist under Azshara and the one who discovered the Burning Legion. He ultimately got corrupted by them and their promise of power.
He tricked Azshara in lettig the Legion into Azaroth who herself was actually just curious and bored and found it somewhat entertaining.
They then summoned Hakkar the Houndmaster into Azeroth before Azshara and with that the downfall happened.
Interestingly during that time Azshara was said to be Sargeras consort and even Kil’Jaeden and Archimond were frightened off her. Not sure however wether or not this is still canon, as she later during the sundering aligned with n’zoth and became a Naga.
Then the War of the Ancients happened, basically what happened in Suramar in Legion but in a much larger scale. We have had a civil war of those who were against the invason of Azeroth by the Legion and the Highborn NEs who were mostly just hungry for power and thus easy prey for their corruption.
The peasent NEs led by Jarod Shadowsong, Malfurion and Tyrande with the help of the dragon aspects ultimate were able to defeat the Legion. The Dragon soul or demon soul was also part of it which led to the destruction of the well of eternity which was the gateway for the legion to Azeroth and thus the sundering happened which ultimately destroyed the Highborn empire and the world.
Xavius himself was during that time trasnformed by Sargeras into the first Satyr and bestowed the power over a corrupted version of the Dream. He was the ultimate enemy of Malfurion.
Malfurion was victorious over Xavius and basically imprisoned him inside a tree during the War of the Ancients.
Since Sargeras turned Xavius and his NEs into Satyrs as basically anti-druids and Druids being the Legions biggest enemy during that time, I think yes he knew about that.
No Xavius was turned into a Satyr by Sargeras.
Not really.
Xavius came in contact with the Old Gods after the Sundering in a similar way as Azshara, and they were the ones that gave him a way into the Dream by leaning on his cursed tree form (caused by Malfurion) to create an anchor that allowed him to tap into the natural domain and corrupt it.
