Where is this fabled classic "wholesome community"?

I started leveling a character in classic.

Currently on lvl 22 as a shaman. Since lvl 14 I’ve probably done four or five dungeons (ragefire and wailing) and I can without a doubt say that in every single one there was one or more toxic person just ruining the run. Not only that but I asked for one gold in the middle of orgrimmar because I’m short to getting a mount and I got bombarded by at least three people whispering me to flame because “how dare I ask for gold go do quests”

I swear the majority of people playing classic are some grumpy old men. Where is this amazing community I’ve heard so much about?

In the past 3 days since I started playing I’ve encountered more toxicity than I have in retail for the past months. Absolutely pathetic

Spending their time on the retail forum singing songs how cool classis is and retail is bad, I presume? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I have been playing Hardcore Classic WoW with my partner on the side. Twice in one session around level 11 I was traded free green gear by random individuals. In General chats and Trade, folks have been very helpful toward one another giving each other tips for survival and class talent choices. The vibe overall has been pretty positive from my perspective, save for a few trolls in guild chats.

That said, you did mention having had these poor experiences in dungeons. Dungeons are inherently far more stressful in Hardcore, so maybe it brought the worst out of folks in the groups you engaged with. Maybe you’ll have better luck soon?

I am playing WOTLK classic, not hardcore.

My bad  I made an assumption based on talking about Wailing and Ragefire.

Can’t say I know much about what is going on with Wrath Classic!

You will find nothing wholesome while playing classic, hardcore or not.

There is no wholesomeness lol, WoTLK was litterally the era of WoW which the game was callee to be the most toxic game on the market by many Til LoL showed up

The game is less toxic today then it was :joy: i remember my childhood being full of Barrens chat and In BGs telling one another to die lol.

Every game, has both nice and toxic players among it, thats a very normal thing. However wotlk was a toxic period of WoW lol. So its of no suprise core WoTlK fan base who returned has bad eggs among it.

They are right. Go do quest. Begging in a mmorpg sounds so pathetic lol…

It’s a fantasy world. Do you play a fantasy game to beg people for stuff? Go farm

Could also just be bad luck. Sounds unlikely to be “normal”. I played some classic hardcore and most people were nice.

I highly highly doubt it, since your recolour of your set is from pvp, and there is no shot that you have just the most rare experience in world of warcraft with the weirdest rng. I doubt it.

It sounds like you had one negative experience after begging people for gold and are being emotional now.

No they’re not. Grow up

I think you lost your rose tinted nostalgia glass my gnome friend
Want me to get you another?

Ah so you’re playing retail 2.0 ? What is the point of this then? Go play classic era… Your post is such a bait… Everyone thought u meant classic era…

Thank you for proving my point and showing the toxicity. You posting from a random lvl 10 char also really validates your toxic opinion. Good luck

Off topic, but
Is it winter already?
So many snowlakes around

You make a post and try to paint an entire community toxic and say how our community is so much better. I bet you’re Positivity incarnate hmm. Also, you said you begged for 1 gold in orgrimmar, and are angry now that they tell you to go quest writing a post like this. That’s so weird

What happened the dancing on the mailbox thing?
Don’t tell me it is gone
Just… don’t

In that case it would at least be a value exchange

You know you are supposed to grind that gold yourself by playing the game? You could just as well have tried asking for free dungeon boosts for gear and experience, it would be exactly the same as begging for gold for mount.

Oh well that explains everything.

WotLK Classic is a cesspit.

Gold has a much higher value in WoW classic than it does in Retail. You are basically asking of the equivalent of 1000 Gold in Retail with 1 Gold in Classic.

Not only that, but the context is important too. You asked for gold to get a mount, so it is you asking for gold for something you don’t particular need to survive in the game. If you would have asked for gold to repair instead, I am pretty sure someone would have given you some money in WoW Classic.

To put it into perspective from an IRL example. Imagine you run around in a banker suit and ask for Money. You don’t really look like you need it. So people are very unwilling to give you some. But if you look like a homeless person, you are much more likely to get some due to empathy towards your appearance, BECAUSE you look like you NEED IT.

Context matters.
