Where should boosting services be advertised?

As much as I hate the idea of boosting people for gold, I have recently decided to join their ranks. Why? This is the only viable method of making longboi gold fast enough before they remove it. Farming gold through traditional manners such as mining/herbing is just not viable anymore because of all the multiboxers/bots that drive value of these commodities to the ground.

So I have decided to start selling pvp arena rating boosts as well as 5mask horrific vision runs for a decent amount of gold. There is a problem however. How do I advertise these boosts?

  • Advertising in LFG is prohibited and annoying for others

  • My realm is a dead one - if I advertise only in trade chat, I get 3 customers/day if I’m lucky

  • If I go to advertise to the trade chat of more populated realms to later transfer the gold back to my home realm using battlepets, I’m met with an insane spam of other boosting services in trade chat, which I imagine would make any sane person leave tradechat instantly - so that’s also annoying for people

Maybe Blizzard should add a “services” UI to the game which could connect sellers and buyers?

Is that not the function of Trade channel? Does seem to describe it perfectly.

A reason why a boosting-only space is argued against is because Blizzard may not want to make it seem like they want to encourage it. Boosting is getting your goals while sitting in the back seat and not playing yourself - why encourage/enable/make more visible a means which allows the player to not play and experience the content more genuinely? At least, that is what I imagine they would think.

A friend of mine used to be a part of a community that did not spam advertise, but was renowned for being a booster space (not Gallywix, haha). I suppose you could be part of such an established place and let the customers come to you.

Or you could join a boosting community, let them do the advertising, and you just reap the golds. Faster, safer, better, and reduced spam on trade too, because you’re not advertising in addition to what’s already there.

I always thought boosting should have its own thing in the UI, like in the group finder. That way, Boosters can post their message once and be done with it, then receive alerts when they get bites. It also means trade chat doesn’t get endlessly spammed, because as you know, once one booster posts something, the rest feel the need to chime in.

No because then blizzard would be actively encouraging it and thats not a good place for the game to be in.

Boosting services should rather just stick to some far away discord or community but if not, use trade, then people can ignore easier if they see fit.

I really don’t care. I left all channels by now, feels like I’m just playing with my guild and run into randoms with LFR/LFD at this point. Community ruined.

Thing is, boosting is here to stay. They can’t disallow people selling their time for an in-game currency, and right now boosting is utterly annoying. If you make an alt and forget to create an individual tab for trade, then good luck reading your chat logs. Boosters will stand there all day long squawking like seagulls.
At least if it was in the UI we wouldn’t have to see the damn crap, like ever if we didn’t want to. You don’t really understand, this feature isn’t for boosters, it’s for me.

Doesnt mean Blizzard should encourage it. Boosting is operated by “private businesses” so getting scammed there would ultimately bite blizzard in the butt. I mean even in respectable communities you have a random bad egg here and there while he may not scam you his tone could be very ugly (already seen stuff you could only facepalm at). Ye sure the boosting communities punish you right away but it would still put blizzard in a bad light.

Or imagine blizzard having been encouraging/supporting boosting and then you get stuff like with Gallywixes real money trade. That IS going to shed a very very bad light on you as a company (and in this case blizzard even had access to their transaction files prior to the bann according to one of their admins) if you encourage/support it.

Right now the best thing for them is to ignore it since ye its there to stay and boosting is as old as time but shouldn’t be encouraged by the company regardless.

You could do it differently. Creating a community channel that the boosters could “abuse” while not directly saying you support them while in return tell boosters that advertising boosts in trade or otherwise in community is forbidden.

Their place in /2 channel.

Doesn’t mean they need to support it. Officially while not against ToS, Blizzard makes it clear they don’t offer official support for it either And blizzard could easily break boosting if they wanted to, but what enabled it is also what blizzard is trying to do to remove barriers when playing with others.

trade channel is the way to go, when chat gets spammed with boosts though it tends to get reported because people trying to sell goods just dont get a chance to post,

posting in LFG though is now suspend-able iirc

How is it supporting it by hiding it away in the UI instead of the chat log where everyone sees it by default? You’re actually letting them reach more people by keeping it in a channel. At least if it’s tucked away in a dialog somewhere you only find it if you really want to.

Nowhere, preferably.

I’d say this. If blizzard really wants boosting to be a thing, they should facilitate it, otherwise it’s just annoying spam you can’t avoid.

Technically, yes. At this point though, they might as well rename “trade chat” to “boosting chat”, because there’s no actual trading of finite items because boost spam drowns it out.

Joining a boosting community is signing off on trade chat and group finder being spammed on multiple servers, why are you encouraging this?

If anything it should be kept outside the game, I don’t care if they spam some Discord server I never need to join or whatever.

Tradechat tbh

I know people dont like it, but whats even worse is looking for a weekly +9 for your alt, and 8 of them are boosting ads thats irrelevant for the key your doing & theres like 2 groups that isn’t boosting ads

Pfft, ametour

Laughs in altogoldism

Because they would give it their own separate platform

Completely moving it outside of the game would be silly, because it is an in-game service, for in-game gold. Joining a community would reduce the spam, because there’s one less person doing it.

As for reducing the spam further: BadBoy does a terrific job of cleaning Trade up. I haven’t seen a boost advert in ages.

Moving it to a separate channel, or it’s separate section on the LFD tool or something like that would likely free up Trade, but then it would be occupied by Dirge and TF spam, and other random banter like it was prior to boosting becoming the major content there. Not very useful either, and considerably harder to filter.

Right now, I find it easier to see non-boost trade stuff there, than I did in Vanilla. Simply because boosts are super easy to filter out, while random talk isn’t.

By implementing it into the game it legitimizes it and suggests that blizzard has support for the transaction which they absolutely do not.
