I'm looking to make an alt, and one of the things I am very interested in is what kind of 'toys', QOL stuff and utilities each class has.
(Already got a lock, so summoning ritual / pet / cookies is something I know about)
Springing to mind mages get portals, rogues get Griftah, a cool order hall and their own legendary chain... what about other classes?
Who has the best toys, quality of life stuff and utilities?
call me old fashioned but im too old to keep up with you young whippersnappers short terms can you elaborate what QoL means?

Quality of Life :)
Like mage portals. Not a big deal, but makes life easier.
well if you want progressions i would say warlock summon is always handy ... if not i would say mage .. mage is always useful for yourself and others.
EDIT:DRUID can work as a portable mount :) and battleresser .. that are pretty fun as well
also instant flying form!

Not sure about class, but when you want QoL stuff, the engineer is the profession for you.
I dont even loot anymore, i just use my looterang. After a kill I just press Q and done. Dont even have to walk to my prey.
Then you get an additional speedboost that just some times burns you alive or shoots you into the air, you get alot of fun toys, a mobile mailbox, mobile banking, a portable feast that might not give buffs, but it has enough regeneration to be viable in BFA while only costing 5 Felslate per use...
You also get Portals to different locations.
On top of that, you can get a Ress on classes that normaly dont have them, it has a 10 minute CD, but after a wipe where I survived with fain death, i just have to ress the healer anyway.
Not to mention you can put a permenent Goblin Glider on your back, so you dont have to waste inventory space.

Druid would'nt be a bad pick overall.
Class Identity is pretty strong in this one, most flexible and adaptive class out there makes playing with friends super easy, just respecc and let'se go, open world mobility over 9000, variety of CC, Battlerezz is always handy, stealth in every spec makes (world)-Questing so much easier and is a good protection against playerganks, falling of a cliff protection (flight form, feline grace, flap, Wild Charge Travelform). I miss all those luxuries on practically every alt character.
Dreamwalk Ability also comes in handy from time to time, not as handy as Mage Portals though, as it gives you access to portals to Hyjal, Hinterlands, Duskwood, Moonglade, Feralas and Grizzly Hills on a 1min Cooldown.
If you are into naturestuff and/or Nelf 'Architecture', then you will also have a blast with the Class Order Hall.
/end Druid fanboyism.

Stealth is awsome, just sayin :) If i was you id roll a rogue.
I had tried a few classes before unlocking DK and I have always felt the intro quest chain to the class is done so well. It really gave you the best introduction to WotLK.
DK's are not as fluid and fun as they use to be back then, but as I returned to the game and leveled my char up from 90 to 120, I realised that it was still such a fun class to play.
The thing I like about DK's is our ability to handle a lot of punishment, even as a DPS in the open world. Which is handy if you're the type of player who enjoys being able to handle most situations on their own, DK works.
I have also given Demon Hunter a try and the class feels very similar to the old style DK. With the skills you get with this class, you can just blow through crowds of mobs, like they were made out of paper.
Again, the introduction quest chain for this class is up there with the DK one IMO. I think DH is more useful all round compared to DK and having the ability to glide, really let's you rush past situations where you would need to clear the trash before progressing on.
Of the original classes, I have found Rogue to be the class that can reward you the most, if you can master it. It's been about 9 years since I played on my char I used to unlock my DK, but a good IRL friend who is a very competent gamer, use to play the class and seeing him in action made me look on at the class in awe.

Nothing beats druids for the all the forms and 4 specs. All can heal and tank somewhat instantly with no respec. The instant cast mounting and you're a mount yourself. Extra portals in the class hall and to Moonglade. No need to worry about being seen in ugly gear. Nice druid-only toys. Cute spells and glyphs to buy. Stealth, humanoid tracking.
And best - you get to be a cat. :)
And then get engineering on top.
Edit: I think we still have feline grace, reduced fall dmg?

Druid obviously.
It's a shame it's specs are mostly weak and not fun :(
- Stealth,
safe fall,
tank/heal/melee/ranged
glide,
instant 2man mounts,
combat ress,
highest movement speed class,
very high swim speed
gathering from travel form
etc.
