Which class won BfA?

4 warlocks in the world first for 8.0, couldn’t have been that bad.

cause ghuun was the dumbest encounter of this expansion and my ex guildmates would rather give up on cutting edge than try to find 4 warlocks for the encounter

Tbh I didn’t play 95% of s1
I came back late :hugs:

So I had a good impression of BfA overall before s4

Rhetoric question ofc it was the Demon hunters. I’ve seen more of them in bfa than i actually did in Legion.

They had a minimum of one Warlock for every fight. 2 warlocks for a good number of them. Not just a Ghuun issue. :stuck_out_tongue:

Warlocks have been strong all expansion.

Wouldn’t say DH was best in BfA. It’s never been top 5 dps in raid, as far as I can remember. It’s been near the top in PvP to be fair. And it’s certainly never been top DpS in keys. Can’t remember a DH ever beating my outlaw once in over 1000 keys. It’s just good at everything with a low skill ceiling, with good utility. And veng has been pretty aweful for the last 2 years in PvE.

I mean without the herr derr hate demon hunter. Assassin rogues been better every raid. Assassin rogues been better every PvP season. And outlaws been better every m+ season (more utility and DPS).

It’s a great class to farm current mog in content if you plan to jump to some real leather class later at some point

Lock, DH, Rogues.

I want to make a videocut of streamers giving a class overview for all wow expansions.
Cause I am pretty sure in every review for every expac they will say: rogue mage lock are good :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
Can’t imagine this holy trinity go somewhere lower A tier but usually up there in S tier

i would say rogues, they were a must in almost every M+ dungeons, since BFA dungeons are infested with obnoxious mobs everywhere, people needed shroud, and on top of that, blizzard designed a whole dungeon for rogues specifically, called “Tol Dagor”

Mage without question. Always been a good / great contender and the minute EP raid came out it was mage > the world

Very interesting topic, kinda wanna chime in here.
Wanna preface this with i am mainly a raider and M+ player, and do very little pvp, but do have some knowledge on the pvp meta.

If you wanna include for raid, M+ and pvp, then lock is not even in the running for best class.
Warlock has been bottom tier with all 3 specs for pretty much every M+ season, and yes they have been top tier or close to top tier in every raid, along with being part of one of the best comps every season in 3s, i don’t think that is enough to outweight, just how bad they are and have been in M+.

Mage can’t really take the title either, even though it really feels like it right now.
S1 M+ mage was pretty good, not top tier, but right below. Seasons 2, mage was good, but again not really top tier, didn’t even see play at the top.
S3 mage started really blasting, but was still outclassed enough by outlaw and havoc that it could only take A-tier.
But in S4 mage finally took a top 2 spot for M+.
Raiding has been somewhat decent. Uldir mage was not really top tier, but you could perform well if you were good. BoD was actually terrible overall for mage, but mage actually found it’s place as an executor for jaina, but it didn’t feel great, and overall performance-wise, mage was not good.
EP mage took a top tier spot in raiding and in Ny’olotha mage took the number 1 spot.
For pvp i think mage has been in top tier comps in every season, but i am not sure.
So overall strong contender, stronger than lock overall mostly due to M+, but don’t think they are the best.

Rogue would be my pick for the best class overall.
In M+ they have had the number 1 spec in every season, though s1 is a bit sketchy in tracking best spec and in s4 i would say they share the #1 spot with fire mage.
In uldir, rogue was pretty good, even had a spec so strong that it was nerfed into the ground for the rest of the expac.
For the rest of the tiers assa rogue was average or slightly above average.
In pvp, rogue is probably the best class in every season, it’s actually kind of ridiculous.

Another class that could be up there is DH. Since the debuff it applies cannot be replaced by scroll or anything or the like, the effective damage they bring to a raid is their own + half another dps, so no spec has ever been able to compete with their effective damage in raid.
On to M+ they have been top tier S1 to S3, but never mandatory, and then in S4 they dropped down to just below top tier, but overall the 3rd best spec in this patch.
For pvp, while they are really good at lower rating, i have gotten the impression that at the highest levels they aren’t super top tier, but still up there, so definitely a good contender overall.

I have 1 honorable mention.

Druid, for their sheer dominance in M+, being number 1 healer in every single season.
They are held back by their underwhelming performance in raid and mediocre performance in pvp.

Brilliant post, agree with it all.

Does anyone else see a trend with the pure DPS specs this expansion. 2/3 have been solid and had their time to shine, and generally had 1 top tier spec, 1 mid tier but never really in a bad place. 1 spec has been left to rot though throughout, arcane mage, demo lock, sub rogue and survival hunter. Looking back it really does feel like blizz only puts effort into 2/3 of the pure DPS specs.

Mage, Rogue and Warlock.

Why? It’s very simple. These are classes that have three specs for a single role they perform. Mage and Warlock is always a ranged DPS, Rogue is always a melee DPS.

The chances of all 3 specs being trash are slim to non-existent. It just does not happen. If there is one awful spec (e.g. sub in 8.3) you just play something else.

And for this reason alone, those 3 clasess will “win” any expansion.

Arcane is bad? You simply reroll to fire or frost.
Retribution is bad? Oh well, time to level, gear and grind out a new alt i guess.
