Which Classes fit which Covenants best?

I’m guessing 16 is the ideal number of characters to play in Shadowlands, however casually. 4 Covenants, 4 transmog sets per Covenant (1 per armour type).

So I’m thinking of having 1 main to see the story with, 3 primary alts (spread out across the other Covenants for those stories), and then an additional 12 alts that I barely play but simply use to unlock the rewards.

Warrior could really go anywhere, depending on race and so on.

Druid, Shaman and Monk are well-suited for Night Fae, given they use Life magic.

Priest could probably fit in well in either Kyrians or Night Fae depending on your race, spec, and visual theme. For example, a Void Elf Shadow Priest would look great in Aardenweald.

Paladin is obviously best suited for the Kyrians.

Death Knight for Venthyr if you’re Blood and going for the vampire vibe, or Necrolords if you’re more into the undead theme.

Hunter could go either way. Their Kyrian mail set is amazing, but depending on your race it could really fit anywhere.

Rogue feels a bit suited to Venthyr given stealth, poisons, and so on. Sneaking around a castle. But they could also fit well elsewhere.

Warlock is probably Venthyr or Necrolords given the themes of summoning, evil magic and so on.

Mage would also fit more or less anywhere depending on which type of magic you use, what your race is and so on. Perhaps a slight edge for Kyrians since they seem more aligned with Order, the Cosmic force which the Titans belong to and where Arcane comes from.

Demon Hunter fit best in Necrolords in my view, since they’re very aggressive and like to assert their dominance.

What are your opinions, is my logic off or do you have any other interesting ways of looking at it? Grateful for any suggestions!

I am not sure if Venthyr are blood type of vampires. From description they are torturing souls mentally to cleanse souls from being edgy teenagers~ sounds like Shadow Priest to me. Overall Shadow Priests are/were designed like old school Dracula before Blizzard kicked them into pit full of tentacles.

Death Knight for Necrolords because Blizzard promised us some lore about our class from them.

Druid for Night Fae… Kultiran Druid would have most fun because we had a promise to learn more about Drust powers from them.

Bastion… Paladins and Holy Priests. Actually I would throw all humans in this place no matter the class (with few exceptions) because it is like Human heaven full of human angels.

Also entire realm is supposed to be Death. Life, Arcane and Titans are not connected to this place in any way (IMO). Covenants are divided between Purgatory (Venthyr), Heaven (Kyrian), Heathen-Reincarnation (Night Fae) and Undead~ Militia of Shadowlands (Necrolords). At least I understand it that way. Maw is a typical Hell that we cant obviously join.

Aesthetically all I’ll say is I’m not particularly thrilled by any covenant. Lore wise I see Necrolords the most fitting for a Warrior.

I’ll end up choosing the one I see most convenient gameplay wise.

Bastion is a place of Order, duty and the Light, etc. The classes that fit here imo are: Mages (Arcane is Order), Priests and Paladins. Paladins in particular fit here since Uther, one of the most renowned Paladins dwells in Bastion too.

Ardenwald (Night Fae) is all about rebirth/reincarnation and life/nature magic as well as spirits. Night Fae covenant fits Druids, Shamans, Hunters and Monks.

Maldraxxus (Necrolords) is the place where only the strongest thrive in it, it’s for those who seek power and glory. Necrolords fits Death Knights (This is so obvious it shouldn’t be mentioned), Warriors and Warlocks.

Revendreth (Venthyr) is the place for prideful criminals and sinners. Where their souls are tortured till they’re redeemed. The Venthyr fits very perfectly with Demon Hunters.

The only class left is Rogue, but it could belong to either Necrolords since it’s the place for the survivors and glory seekers. Or Revendreth since they are basically criminals/thieves.

Hey, I know nothing of the new factions.

Which one has the mog that fits this char?
Needs gold. Lots of it!

There is only plate armor for us to see but you can guess the theme by looking at them:

(Necrolord/Venthyr/Kyrian/NightFae)

Also there are cloaks:

(NightFae/Venthyr/Necrolord/Bastion)

Thanks.
Kinda not liking any of it tbh. Hopefully the cloth will be better shaped, tho the colours are probably final.

There’s a screenshot with all the kyrian mogs, but since I’m on my phone Google will have to help you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As for which characters for which covenant, I’m basing my choice on the characters story not class, but the class distribution looks like this:

Kyrians - Paladin, shaman, monk, priest
Night fae - Death Knight, hunter, druid, priest
Venthir - Paladin, hunter, monk, priest
Necrolords - Death Knight, hunter, monk, warlock

This is from reddit. I was trying to find the original source but got distracted. Blizzard’s artists post some of their work online and it’s a rabbit hole

Edit2: Looking at this screenshot and the one above, I just realized the plate armour looks like a “mythic” version of the one above. Fear of the grind for all of this starts to creep in :frowning:

Every PvPer will go for Bastion or Revendreth no matter the Class, their abilities are just way too good to pass. Wether they fit in those are irrelevant.

To my knowledge, this is the only one that was revealed.

Woow… All three except cloth look like plate.
But Mail~ Mail looks epic! :astonished:

Still only (shaman and) hunter can wear mail (human and elf can only be hunters) so this transmog will be rare as hell!

I ponder if there be ‘suramar’ alike obstacle on alts and transmogs. I mean … I only have like 2 full or 3 sets with shoulders because of it.

I know, right  The first thing that came to my mind when I saw that picture was finally a good looking mail set.

I was thinking about this, and since we’ve now seen different tints and there appears to be different “tiers” of it, I’m wondering if they are going to be like artifact skins. Unlock a basic look and then complete a set of tasks for the different tints. Although we won’t probably get a full set right away, we might unlock, say the shoulder slot, and then complete tasks for all the looks and tints.

Thinking about it, it might be a whole lot of transmog coming next expansion.

I liked artifact system - yes, some of the tasks were too out of my league (or alts league to be more precise) , but thats what you get playing an alt. But you were able to get still a lot of nice looking variants with some effort. And doing magetower with all those specs was actually something i found myself enjoying a lot.

Hated suramar rep, and more so I started to hate when they said Nighborne are opposite faction supporters.

I want have all of those 4 avaible for any armor class(cloth, leather, mail or plate). Because shoulders and helmets are amazing and can be used in diffrent transmogs. So for example you can mix that feather shoulder with that plate armor from right and it will be even more amazing for a light Paladin or a “battle priest”.

I’m not sure they would ever do this

There’s also a “shadow” tint. You can get an idea of the tints here:
