please help me with this list. Which DPS specs bring unique utility to a raid?
What I mean by that is many classes are able to provide Heroism or a Combat Rez. So that’s not unique. But which DPS specs are desireable being brought to a raid based on a unique ability/buff they provide?
Havoc DHs - Chaos Brand
Warlocks - Healthstones & Demonic Gateway
Mages - Arcane Intellect (edited)
Hunters - ?
Retri Palas - Auras (are they seen as valueable raid utility?)
Death Knights - Grips & AMZ (value depends on the encounter I guess?)
Rogues - ? (Shroud in M+ but anything raid-relevant?)
WW Monks - Mystic Touch (edited)
Warrior - Battle Shout
Enh Shaman - Windfury Totem (group only)
SPriests - ? (Well they have PI but does that count as raid-utility?)
Druids - MotW
Evoker - ? (Bronze Blessing but is that considered to be meaningful raid utility?)
Evoker also has this rescue ability, but that is for both specs and must be skilled.
And its probably very hard to use in a raid.
DD Dracthyr can also get cleanse, if for some reason the healer are struggeling.
I don’t think BL/Hero should be called unique anymore nowadays.
Thank you for reminding me about Monks’ Mystic Touch. Totally forgot about that one. Will edit my initial post.
And to the ones saying Rescue, doesn’t it fall under the same category like Power Infusion? It’s a nice ability but it only targets one (other) player. Does that count as raid utility?
For mages i’d Say the intellect buff that is VERY usefull for healers Imo.
Hunter’s Pets can trigger trap (Example Xy’mox traps) Removing that stuff from the ground and making no one in the raid get it!
Shroud has some raid relevance in that it lets melee get closer to a boss before a pull. But, Atrophic Poison.
I think most raid leaders value having Devotion Aura, but to my knowledge rets don’t want to spend a point there. There’s Blessing of Protection, but it’s usually used to dispel bleeds and evokers can do that much more frequently.
I am sure any sane raid leader would unconditionally bring a rogue to skip 3 minutes of trash so that the rogue’s unsuitability for the next encounter can cost the raid 3 hours.
The new poison that reduces enemy dmg dealt by 3%.
Does the poison work on raid bosses? Found no secure info about that matter. Same goes DKs Insidious Chill
I waited for someone to mention this. But besides it being group only I fail to see its value outside PvP - if at all. I have yet to read about any Hunter thinking it’s good or worth taking.
While it’s fantastic tool in M+ I wouldn’t call it a raid buff. Also it gets ignored most of the time in raids, meaning the trash packs that could be skipped are done anyway.
