Just trying to think of an expansion to level my paladin through with. I’ve visited the church in Legion but that didn’t seem too interesting if we’re being honest. Which expansion would fit paladins the best - either just thematically or lorewise?
Wrath of the Lich king of course. The expansion where Arthas returned to WoW the Anti hero of warcraft 3. And fallen Paladin to become the Lich king under Ner’zhul!
In this expansion the Death knights are introduced as well. They are your complete oppesites as Paladins. The Anti Paladin class… Many of them who where even once Paladins them selves who have now fallen in battle to become the Lich kings knights.
Wrath of the lich king is -the- Light versus death expansion. The Paladins time to shine.

Well, Legion is the only expansion where you see class specific quests and you get to meet a large number of Paladin NPCs.

legion because legion’s class hall quests are great for class fantasy and everything about paladin is amazing in legion
Thanks, this sounds great but I’m actually planning on leveling a death knight too, which I thought I would level there. I have never played that expansion before, so it should be interesting. 
I visited the church at the start and I was disappointed it’s just a church, but I reckon it gets better as you move on?
Depends on what you mean by better. It has a secret entrance to an underground area where the actual class hall really is, however you wanted an expansion that lets you experience the paladin class lore, if I understand correctly and there’s no better expansion than Legion for that.
Oh I didn’t know that. Sounds interesting. I just thought it’s a small church and that’s it. 
It’s even better. It’s a secret church UNDERNEATH ANOTHER CHURCH.
Also, the Paladin quests order hall quests are great imo.
