Well some friends and I returned to the game, we have a tank but not a healer in the group, so i decided to make one (now that leveling is pretty easy and I am not enjoying my 120 class). I have played “support/healers” before and I want to give it a try in this game. The thing is that I don’t know what to pick. I have seen some videos but i can’t decide yet.
I would like some feedback on the class you play and what made you say that is MY class. To make it easier I put some points that interest me. I know that druids are more dot healing, holy pure healing, shamans aoe healing utility. But I don’t know much about them.
-Pros/Cons
-Experience with your class (why you enjoy it, memorable moments, why you keep playing it) This is the most important point for me
-Beginner friendly?
-Learning curve
-If people look for this class or they try to avoid it (lfg)
-Future of the class (since i would like to spend time on it) in case you have access to alpha or something similar.
-Other specs are fun:
This is not realted with the class but some guides, addons, UI. The more simple the better
Thx a lot!! Looking forward for your tips/comments
You can’t go wrong with a Priest: two very different healing specs: one active (Holy) and another one more or less proactive (Discipline). If you get bored of one, you can simply switch to another one.
Holy Priest is a pure healing spec, a typical healer, very easy to learn, beginner friendly, has tools to deal with almost every situation. Single target healing is ok, not top but ok as well as aoe healing. You just stay at back and heal, that’s it. It can’t be easier.
Discipline, on the other hand, is one of the hardest spec to master. You are not a typical healer, more like a dps healer: most of your healing comes through your dmg (Atonement healing), although you have access to two or three pure healing spells as well. So, if you are looking for a healer who can do some nice dmg while healing, Discipline is your best option and one of the most wanted healers for mythic +.
Anyway this is my alt. While i like Priest as a class ( all my 3 specs) i prefer MW Monk as the most fun and effective healer. You have great mobility, survivability, superior burst healing, nice aoe healing and most enjoyable playstyle out of all healers imo.
But first ask yourself a simple question: do you want to play an active or proactive healer?
"Proactive Healing - Healing that must be used before damage in order to be as effective as possible. This includes placing absorb effects to lower incoming damage, or placing HoT effects so they’re able to provide a steady stream of healing after damage.
Reactive Healing - Healing with standard spells to keep up pace with the damage coming into the group."
Proactive healers are harder to master. Less space for mistakes. They are only two: Resto Druid and Discipline Priest. All other healers are more beginner friendly. Not sure about resto shaman, cause i’ve never played one.
