I’ve been recently getting heroic dungeon drops, ILV 389 and I’m a bit indecisive, on which pieces to upgrade first, in order to increase the DPS, healing or Tanking survivability on my characters.
I rotate between 25 characters, level 70, that’s why I need to make sure, every upgrade counts
I was thinking, for my DPS characters, to prioritise the weapon level, followed by pieces with the most amount of stats, like chest piece and legs, leaving the rings, trinkets and neck for last.
The same pattern for healers and Tank.
For characters that use shields, like Protection Warrior and protection Paladins, I would prioritize raising the shield levels to maximum level (8/8) first.
Considering we are talking about 390ilvl characters yes, that is correct. When you get to abit higher ilvl, wowhead guides answer that question exactly for every spec in the game.
AFAIK the only thing that changes at higher ilvl, is that trinkets get abit higher priority.
I won’t be able to give the best advice as I’m still a noob when it comes to more competitive content such as Mythic+, but from experience I can say that sites like wowhead will be a great place to start to look up what stats you’ll want to prioritize on a spec you’re playing. I know that their item level and their primary stat (Strength, Intellect or Agility) will always come first but again it’ll help to look up Class Guides on wowhead.
For choosing specific gear for the class/spec you’re playing, an addon named Simulationcraft will really come in handy, which you can use to copy and paste your character info onto a site named raidbots to simulate your character. It’ll basically take the info you paste onto their front page on “Top Gear” and look at your character’s stats, gear they’re wearing and gear in their bag and it’ll let you simulate your character for which pieces of gear might be best for them. For a more in-depth guide on how to use that addon and site, I’d recommend looking up a video on YouTube named “The Most Important Tool For Any WoW Player” since it goes into using the app with a lot more depth. Plus I can really suck at explaining things.
