Which Laptop for Classic TBC/WOTLK

I am looking to return to WOW Classic TBC/WOTLK after some time off, and wondering which of these two laptops would be best to go for:

Asus-tuf-dash-f15
intel-core-i5
gtx-1650
512-gb-ssd

Or

HP Pavilion 15.6in R5
8GB
256GB
GTX1650

Im not a hardcore player, and would be looking to level casually, do some dungeons, raid every so often etc. Not necessary to have the game maxxed out on graphics/FPS either , and don’t want to spend a fortune - Just looking to play comfortably for a couple of hours in the evenings, and maybe at weekends (Real life commitment/threat issues)

Any advice or other suggestions (UK) would be great

Thanks!

Well, here is the page for system specs:

You should be fine with either.

When I look up the Asus, I see different, and higher, specs

but you may be looking at a slightly different model.

An i5 and a 1650 is your bog-standard spec for a machine that will play Retail, much less Classic, since Classic/TBC has MUCH lighter computer requirements.

I would definitely try for 8GB of memory and 512GB of disk. You may get away with running WoW alone with less, but if you want a browser handy to look things up, check YouTube for how to do something, you could find your performance impacted. And as for disk, never underestimate the need to hold spare space for upgrades.

But if your component list is at least
Any i5 of the last 4 or 5 years
GTX 1650 graphics
8GB RAM
512GB disk
you should be quite safe.

You may also want to plug in an external keyboard and mouse, and it’s always good to get an external disk drive for backup and any swapping you have to do, but that is obviously up to you.

So from what I gather from your post, I’d go for the Asus, but since the results I’m getting are different from what you posted, you can maybe put links to the specific machines if you want more.

You can post links either by inserting spaces or by highlighting the link and clicking the </> button you see at the top of your edit box, like:

Amazing - Thanks for the advice

Asus is more gamer choise, but you can easily play the game with 7gen laptops too, just have atleast GTX1000 series graphics card with dx12, and Windows 10 still goes for several years, maybe upto next WoW expansion, after that you might need Windows 11.

Recommend atleast 16 gigs of ram for gaming, cause you get issues if you go with bare minimum, this is usually upgradeable.
