Fire mages have among the best on the dps charts every single week in this expansion, while destro have been ālockedā at #20 up to the recent tweaks.

Even new players will reach end game. So it depends what you wanna do at that time. If raid is your thing, itās pointless to level one of the weakest classes, just to be disappointed after spending all that time leveling that toon.

depends on what specc. in group content as a marksman hunter i would just go with the lone wolf buff instead of a pet. But beastmastery still is one of the best speccs for soloing

If you want the āBestā Mage is typically in the top 3, with one of their specs, in every expansion.
If you are a new player, have already rolled Hunter and are enjoying it, you made a good choiceā¦Marksman spec is generally high dps for Group contentā¦and Beastmaster spec is excellent for world content.
Most people picking fotm are extremely bad at the game. Like, I did a mists on my druid the other day. Fire mage in the party. He combusted as we pulled the first boss and popped TW. He did 5k dps on the boss. I do 5k+ dps on this character on that boss and Iām a holy priest.
