Which professions for my main

So I have these professions:

Priest - Enchanting + Tailoring

Mage - Alchemy + Herbalism

Druid - Herbalism + Mining

DH - Leatherworking + Skinning

Paladin - Blacksmithing + Mining

Now I’m wondering which professions I should choose on my main shaman. I’m thinking one of these:

alchemy + herbalism again, because flasks are nice

engineering + mining, because I don’t have engineering yet and I heard it’s quite useful as well

.

Inscription, Jewelcrafting + the recommended 2dary profession, just because I don’t have it yet, but I don’t know much about these two professions.

The only thing I’m trying to do here is not to pick professions that would mean wasted potential by having them on my main.

Any advice would be appreciated

Alchemy and Enchanting is a good mix on a main. You have alts for herbing.

I’ll post the same as I did on a thread a few down:

Myself personally I always choose Engineering plus one other, usually the relevant armour profession for the class, so my Druid main is Engineering and Leatherworking but I would level with the corresponding gathering proffs so in my Druids case mining and skinning.

My thoughts, everything from alchemy, enchanting, inscription, jewelcrafting (potions, enchants, glyphs, contracts, gems e.t.c can be bought on the AH - armour to an extent but if you like transmog and want to collect every different look, being able to make it yourself will save you so much time.

Engineering just has so many gadgets (and most fun in my opinion) that are invaluable but require engineering to use.

My main has alchemy and herbing, but you can change herbing to engineering for having a CR (on a non CR class ofc).

You are overlooking two facts for a main.

With enchanting you can disenchant every piece of unwanted gear instead of merely vendoring them. Beside the conivience of making your own enchants.

With alchemy you likewise have the conivience of making consumables yourself. Plus double duration flasks, which saves an awful lot of materials/gold over time.

I decided to go Alchemy and Enchanting. Feels like a good choice for making/saving money while raiding, since I really don’t have much

Both excellent points but dust and shard prices, at least on my busy server aren’t that expensive to buy so by extension you don’t make much - at least in my experience so it’s just not worth the time to DE, put up on the AH with the millions of other sellers and hope someone buys yours quickly before someone else list them.

Alchemy is very useful if you raid but so is Engineering. Those two would be a good fit for a raider. I just personally couldn’t play a character without Engineering - it’s just too good.

Alright. Being on Silvermoon probably doesn’t help with DE. I’ll switch to alchemy/enginner and see how it works out

I concede the point about enchanting. We are past the initial point where it was painfully expensive. And 9.1 so far isnt adding new enchants just yet, though I expect there to be a spike in demand when the raid opens.

But the source of crystals is quite abundant already. In particular that spot in Bastion where you can fight x4 summoned rares in a row daily, that is easilly soloable. Each of them have a chance to drop an epic. Today I got two of them epics, instant DE.

Edit: I felt inspired to ditch enchanting for engineering! After using my whole stock of mats on making a lot of enchant scrolls for myself.
