If you are planning on pushing very high-end M+, clearly warriors.
For raids, anything works well enough.
If you want your healers to have less heart attacks, avoid BDK.
No matter what you play, you will have to learn to rotate your cooldowns effectively. The eras of passive mitigation are long gone and you have to plan ahead of time how to maximise mitigation.
If you know any basics you then can not ask what is best etc.
Simple answer on what you are good.
Complicated answer specify question and group setup/raid and encounter etc and then maybe we could narrow to lower number and it is still debatable if you can even do that.
SO this all nonsense what is best etc means FOTM for bad players looking to be carried by FOTM.
Itâs objective fact that warriors did more dps and they also have great mitigation. In this game there is a best tool for the job and that is what the OP asked about. Donât even pretend a prot warr is in the same league as a guardian druid.
No, you do not understand there are situations where 1 tank will be better then another warrior was overall better in mythic + because it fit with more of the niches.
In a magic heavy fight a warrior is not the best tank that is an objective fact.
It also depends on how it is played a badly played tank of one class wonât be better than a well-played tank of another class.
If there was an objective best tank class out there a bad player of that class would be at least on par or still better then the good player of a worse class
Niches are how the tanks are balanced one tank do well in X situation but do worse in Y situation, the tank good at Y situation might be bad at Z situation.
bestkeystone shows success rate around 10-20%. People just run keys from previous season. I am pretty sure if needed to push key from the scratch there wonât be as many 15+ as you may see now.
Yeah sure ability to reflect back bloodbolt that otherwise oneshot tank is not really something best tank can have
Never seen a spikey paladin ever . They have always been a good solid tank . It has to be the player behind the class. I do not doubt you are a good healer but saying palas are trash tier is just so wrong.
When asking âbestâ weâre asking for stuff played equally well. Any moron with 2 braincells to rub together knows an awesome druid would be better than an awful warrior.
Theres no niches in M+ and I said tanks fill certain niches in raids. Iâm not sure why youâre choosing this hill to die on, but if you persist, at least come with some proper facts and not this weak generic stuff.
As someone who do mythic+ weekly on at least 5 characters- three of them Pala, Warr and DK tanks, I can safely say that Warrior and Pala tanks are probably the best for mythic+.
Warriors have high reduced damage with the use of various abilities, and high damage. Even after the Thunder Clap talent nerf their damage is high, and they were unquestionably the best tank spec in season 2 but with this nerf they may be on par with other tanks.
Prot Paladins are extremely good for mythic+: High self heals, immunities and very high damage. With certain azerite armor traits they can be very powerful with both damage and healing, and with a wide selection of mostly good talents Paladins are without doubt in the top.
Blood Death Knights however are not in a good state in mythic+ or raids. Their damage is incredibly low compared to other tank specs, but their healing and survivability is somewhat higher than other tank specs. As good dps is almost always needed if you are aiming for high keys, Blood DKs are really not that great, but for average keys they are not that bad.
Vengeance Demon Hunters are also in a bad state for mythic+, despite the recent buffs. Weak self healing, weak defensives and moderate dps.
Being good at aoe dps.
Being good at prio single target damage.
Being good at physical damage reduction.
Being good at self healing so your healer can deal dps.
Being good at creating easy to kill mob packs.
Being good at magic damage take.
Being good at Movment.
Being good at not taking spiky damage instead smooth it out over a longer time.
It sounds like you have some form of BFA change of the word niche in tanks for wow.
We have talked about Niches being informed by the toolkit for YEARS and YEARS in tanking and healing and in damage dealers.
So now what is this BFA definition of niche you are talking about?
8.1 Guardian druids were rough to play. I mean, I could do +11-13 keys, but I definitely had a lot of trouble. Some of it was my skill for sure, but someone of equal skill on a prot warrior would have probably been able to do +18 easily.
I will be starting my keys for this season after reset. I am hearing from several folks that Guardians are pretty good in Mythic+ right now.
Tank DPS and damage is up on noxxic. Based on 445 gear and sims. Pallys simming the top for mitigation and damage. With guardian just behind in 2nd place for AoE damage and mitigation. Be interesting to see if itâs right.
Which makes perfect sense when you consider 70-80% total damage in a M+ are trash autoattacks⌠so it makes sense for a healer to feel like Warrior isnt taking dmg
