While I am playing on my Mag'har Orc I kinda realize how bad some Alliance Racials are compared to Horde

I know this is not really a new topic to this forum, but while I am leveling said Mag’har I do realize how useless my Lightforged Racials actually feel like aside from “Light’s Judgement”

Lightforged Draenei have as Racials:

  • Light’s Judgment (Attack Spell) → Is totally fine but feels awful when your target dies before the Beam hits and the damage that would have been dealt just isn’t dealt around the targets corpse.

  • Light’s Reckoning (Passive) → Totally fine, but I need to die to get use out of it…

  • Demonbane (Passive) → Very situational and useless beyond max level (how often again do I fight Demons in BfA and SL???)

  • Holy Resistance (Passive) → 1% overall Damage Resistance to Holy Damage. Just 1%!

  • Forge of Light (Passive/Profession Spell) → Only useful if you go for Blacksmithing, which is ok for Players doing Professions, but useless for Players not doing Professions.

Meanwhile Mag’har Orcs Racials:

  • Ancestral Call (Buff-Spell) → Seems to be very useful.

  • Open Skies (Passive) → A good buff for Mounts, useful in general and in all Aspects of the game which do allow using Mounts.

  • Savage Blood (Passive) → +10% Resistance to Poisons, Dieseases and Curses… WOW. That’s like what? 3 different types of Damage? And each of them 10% Resistance? Damn!!!

  • Sympathetic Vigor (Passive) → Another +10% HP for all kinds of Pets, which especially benefits Hunters…

So, my question here is now. Why, for example, my Lightforged Draenei gets only +1% Bonus Damage Resistance to Holy Damage, but a Mag’har gets 10% Bonus Damage Resistance to 3 different types of Damage???

Lightforged have of course more offensive Abilities, but why do they not have like 5% Holy Damage Resistance as Racial instead of this 1% that you could basically remove without it mattering to anyone? It is basically an obsolete Racial. It could also instead be “+1-3% more Holy Damage” and would still be more useful. Would also encourage playing Paladin or Priest, which fits the Narrative of the “Army of Light”!

Who designs those Racials?!?!?

Edit: To give also constructive criticism about this topic… Let me say for a second now I would be allowed to change the Racials of Lightforged as I think they would be right, I would do the following:

  • Demonbane (Passive) → You get +10% more XP from Demons and receive 10% less damage from Demons attacks (does not apply to Player Demon Hunters Damage)
  • Holy Resistance/Charge (Passive) → As a Tank, receive 5% less Damage through Holy Damage. As a DD, deal 5% more Holy Damage and as a Healer heal 5% more on critical heals with Holy-based spells.

Both changes would make LFD more attractive as Paladins and Priests for Raids and the Demon damage resistance would give them a useful Edge in Content containing lots of Demons or demonic Bosses.

5 guesses on what faction the devs play at blizzard.

The “We don’t care”-faction?

Dwarf and Night Elf m+ers do not agree with you :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s not quite right. They aren’t three types of damages, but rather three types of effects, and the 10% resistance to poison, disease and curses gives you a chance to not get the debuff, it doesn’t actually reduce the damage taken like the holy resistance for Lightforge Draenei does.

With that said, I do agree that Horde definitely have a racial advantage overall and cross faction won’t solve that problem. You’d think all the new allied races introduced in BFA and Legion would’ve had a smaller discrepancy between the factions.

Hell, if it wasn’t for Orcs then no one in their right mind would play horde for PvP. Alliance got far better racials in most cases, especially for healers, when not counting the stun reduction from orcs.

The best racial in the game by a country mile is Haymaker

Meld being close second ofc lol

I could argue with both races’ racials in the OP.

Light’s Judgment delay is a compensation of sorts for how vast amounts of damage it can do but agree that it should still do damage no matter what. Say, work even on enemies that die but with a 4sec delay? It’s kinda like a first strike ability that should help a tank stabilize threat or for a dps, add a lot of damage by the time tank has picked up their targets properly.

Light’s Reckoning could trigger if you hit 20% health, with a ~4 min cd, to make it more useful.

Demonbane was relevant when LFD was added. Even if what you suggested was added (less dmg taken, more dmg dealt to demons), it’d be still niche. I could count on one hand how many demon npc’s I saw in SL. Can be regardless added but at reduced effectiveness (3-3% for damage dealt and taken).

Forge of Light is, yes, a niche little thing but look at Mechagnomes who have an array of tools that give them a lot of QoL things similar to this. No need to scream in Trade to have a rogue open your lockboxes as a mechagnome mage.

Resistance racials are this weak because Resistance as a stat no longer exists. Used to be crazy powerful as a line of magic defense (magic armor) and raids relied on it to be even able to do certain fights (Ragnaros was impossible without fire resistance, Sindy and Sapphiron fights valued frost resist gear for instance). That’s no longer the case as fights are tuned to be survivable without them OR with AMS from a dk, so you wouldn’t have to have another gear set for a specific fight.

Ancestral Call is useful like the light bomb, but actually buffs a random secondary you might not have that much a need of.

Open Skies helps outdoors, but not in raids (unlike its opposite that’s given to dark iron dwarves!)

Savage Blood is also situational since it weakens dot’s and even then, not all types. If the enemies rely on bleeds or direct dmg, this won’t be useful.

Sympathetic Vigor is again more of a solo play convenience as in PvE, nothing specifically targets pets (in an ideal case… insert hunters here who turn on pet taunt) and in PvP (I think) pets are only CCed since they disappear if their master dies.

That said, all racials have a little bit of usefulness, but the weaker ones could be brought in line with the others :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know about Orcs, but as a mage there is a lot more Alliance racials better than Horde ones.
Human, Velf, Nelf and gnome are better than the next three Horde ones - exception maybe the Hardiness from Orcs.

I agree on that.

While that might be true, I wish the Racials in WoW would be as useful as the Racials in Elder Scrolls Online
