I’d be down for this. My pterrodax mount is just the green dragon model, so it’d be nice to use it. Renewed proto-drakes are just like any other proto drake. Bronze is just a wyvern. I’d love it if they enabled dragonriding on those base model mounts.

If you’re good ag dragon riding you won’t wait for vigor
If you’re maxed out w 6 vigor and know how to use speed to regenerate its really hard to run out??
At this point I would have no problem with them just introduce flying. Its inferior to Dragonriding and serves no purpose. It really doesnt affect anyone if someone wants to use it.

This is true, even with 3-4 vigor I had no problem collecting the glyps (the only one I had to rest 3-4 times was the one on the peak of Thaldraszus) or geting from A to B
On the very rare occasion when I’m out of dragon juice, because miscalculated and the tree was a bit higher than I thougt or a mountain jumped at be from nowehere, I will just use Soar ^^
It REALLY wouldn’t surprise me if the people who complain about Dragonriding are either not good at it OR are using it the same way they used to use normal flying (as in hop on, fly 2 ft, hop off, hop on, fly 2 ft more, hop off etc)…
I’m loving it… hope they do ALL flying this way going forward if only to see a lvl 70 whine about they can’t stripmine everything away from the players who actually need the mats to lvl-up instead of using it to line their pockets whilst me on my lvl 60 with only 3 vigor reach each and every node with ease because logical thinking makes me start high then float down picking all of those nodes in order

This is actually not wrong, though I don’t find it happening often.
I never run out of Vigor when going A to B, for all A and B.
However, when I get there, and am looking for a node, there are some vigor-burning problems.
I give the devs credit for the maliciously ingenious places they have placed some nodes, on the edge of vertical drops. So you drop to the high place on top of the rock. Not there. Down-arrow. You drop to the ground. Not there. Up-arrow. Ok, so it’s somewhere on one oif the intermediate ledges.

I would like to see flying available in DF, and Dragontiding available everywhere else, but we’ll have to wait for a patch for the first, and probably the next expansion for the second.
Incidentally, I find when I hop on pre-DF alts that I have forgotten how to fly! 
I keep pressing “2”.
In that case it recharges quickly even if you ran out. If this was WOD/Legion/BfA/SL, you would not be able to fly at all…
Still somehow people manage to complain their 830% speed flying mount that they got immediately at the start of the expansion managed to run out of energy and they have to wait a whole 15secs to get the vigor to fly again.
to be able to hover would be nice, comment from this very bad dragon flyer lol

Getting back to your corpse on a flying ghost…super slow! Imagine normal flying whilst you go much faster through dragonflying.
But it’s true you are doing something wrong. First of all, if you are mining/herb without the ability that raises your vigor regeneration each you gather ores/herbs then you are doing it wrong.
If you cannot lift off with one vigor and stay in the air while regenerating vigor faster than you can spend it, then you are doing something wrong.
Therefore, I see no valid point in your complaints.

happened to me once or twice. when there is some roof or bridge it could be problematic. but in 5 sec im already in the sky
This is why I now main a race with flight on an 1 min cooldown.
By the time I am done Soaring, the drake can fly again.
Have you done Herbing/Mining runs?
If you have two or three nodes close to one another, with unclear vertical locations, it can happen. It just doesn’t happen often.

This is why I think the vigor talent for gathering nodes needs an overhaul to accommodate that activity
