Whisper from "Blizzard GM"

I recieved a whisper in game from Blizzard telling me to go to a webiste to confirm my identity or my account will be suspended. When I go to the website it tells me to enter my login details and I recieve a notif from my browser that it’s unsecure. I find it suspicious as for something like this I’d expect an email of some sort. Can anyone confirm if this is legit or a scam?

It’s a scam

Blizzard will never contact you via whispering (unless maybe you open a ticket but then it will be about your issue)

And you never have to confirm your identity … ever

Hi there Fatnerdx,

Alleyâh is correct and this would be what’s commonly known as a phishing scam. You can find more info about it over on this page:
https://battle.net/support/en/article/269000

If you do see it in the future, please take a moment to report it so that we can take action as quickly as possible and prevent others from falling victim to it.

Thanks!

From the link that Tyrskorn posted:

Don’t trust a site based on how it looks—scammers make fake websites that look official. Our two major websites, from where you should log are blizzard.com and our support site at battle.net/support.

Game Masters always have a Game Master Logo tag next to their name. If the tag isn’t there, but the person you’re talking to claims to be with Blizzard, it’s a phishing attempt.

OP, Deep Scan your machine for malware now!

Then change your email and password.

Your account is compromised.

Why are you saying such things? It has nothing to do with your account being already compromised. Should that be the case, there would be no point in asking for your credentials. It’s merely bots which are messaging SCHEIß (the english word was not allowed) tons of people in an attempt to get them to enter their acc data.

Had he entered the information, instead of asking here, then I would agree. But if he did not enter the information, this would be almost certainly objectively wrong.

He says so because such websites are also known to house Trojans.

Also … what a heck of a necro!
