My addon allows me to copy his name and realm, I then disabled all addons and still it did not work.
I had to make a new char on this guy’s realm to whisper back.

I thought you could only whisper if in a group to another realm?
You even can whisper people when not in a group with the person. I remember plenty of cases where butthurt people would whisper me after a random bg just to insult me and then instantly block me so i couldnt reply.
My guess is something went wrong with the copy pasting. I never had any problems talking to someone on another realm. Then again i did not copy paste i either right clicked names from the chat to be able to whisper or i just typed the name and realm in manually.
Its either that or the guy he was whispering to was the wrong faction, shortly offline due to relogging at the time, or perhaps on a classic server instead of retail servers
I remember something, I copied the whole thing including the country, so perhabs that is why.
There are some formatting specifics for servers with spaces in their name. I think the spaces need to be removed to be like ArgentDawn. Probably some details on wowhead or similar.
