Hi there, not sure if this has been brought up before.
Its been at least a few months since i’ve noticed I can no longer whisper to party leaders in LFG and even people in my own party.
This is quite odd and I can’t find any explanation for this. I have noticed a few people mentioning the same problem though so I’m inclined to think it might be a addon issue or a bug that needs to be fixed.
Has anyone experienced the same issue recently?
Have you tried removing the addons and then trying to see if it works ? Also better to contact support and ask them if there is any restriction or limitation on your account .

You could try disabling addons and then see if the problem persists.
I had a different issue that /resetchat didn’t fix so I had to go for a full UI reset:-
If you were silenced you would have received an email telling you your account had temporarily been silenced. Voidlocky suggested contacting CS but you would have received notification.
Are these people member of the opposing faction ? If so, you can’t whisper them even if they are in your party or raid group.

First of all, thank you everyone for the replies. Interesting responses were given.
1st suggestion, disabling addons: Doesn’t work, the same message claiming “no player named " … - server name” is currently online".
2nd Suggestion, /resetchat and full UI reset: Didn’t work
3rd suggestion, are they cross faction? : Yes!
I typically play Alliance and it turns out that most people in keys 15+ play Horde. I just got unlucky and never got an Alliance player until a persistent experiment tonight. After several tries, one whisper worked and it was in fact an alliance player. I looked up the chars where the whispers failed and they are all Horde.
This seems to be the answer to the issue and I call it an issue because I often link KSM or AOTC to demonstrate that even though my alts have a low rio/m+ score, that I’m still a worthwhile pick.
Also the notification I receive claims the player is not online, which isn’t correct. It’s a member of the opposite faction.
This issue was happening to me since a few months, checked the release date of 9.2.5 when cross faction feature was released and indeed, its a few months back.
Thank you everyone and in particular Deliria. Hopefully Blizzard can recognize that linking achievements is a common community practice and is helpful for everyone involved.
Hopefully this is clear and will be heard. i’m happy to answer any more questions to Blizz.

Actually, once you’re using the cross-faction grouping up feature you should be able to use “party and raid chat, as well as use /say and /yell within proximity of one another.” this does not cover whispers.
If you want to whisper cross-faction, consider suggesting that ingame.
