White square upon clicking

Ever since the new patch, whenener I click with the left button with the mouse, a white square appears on the left edge of the screen in the middle, above where the chat normally is. It’s super annoying. According to Reddit, it has something to do with some debug tool with some graphics card. What I do know is that switching between DirectX 11 and 12 didn’t fix the issue.

Direcx11 i guess, yet another annoying bug. If you can change to DX12 - it will solve this problem at the cost of some other.

Switching did not solve it, but updating the driver did. As a predominantly console player (PC is mostly just WoW + indie games), it feels obtuse that you get no notification if your drivers are out of date, an what you should even be searching for, but I’ve got it after all.

AMD at least has optional automatic update for their graphics drivers in AMD Software. I think it can update chipset drivers as well though i haven’t really paid attention to that. I assume nvidia has something similar as well.

Personally I prefer to avoid automatic updates for GPU drivers - don’t fix it if it isn’t broken

Windows itself can also update drivers automatically but those are usually older than what’s available from the device manufacturer directly due to the extra verifications before they are pushed to Windows Update.

Linux - at least with AMD cards - tends to handle this better in many ways though obviously that isn’t solution for everyone.

I have the same issue on Windows 7.

Considering that I can’t update the graphics driver, I just have to wait for a fix.

According to what I have read in several forums, this is a problem that has already appeared in previous expansions, mainly Draqonflight, and it has to do with Nvidia Reflex. However, I have tried to disable this option in the game settings and it doesn’t fix it. Of course, I don’t have GeForce Experience installed (who in their right mind installs that).

I just need to try nVidia inspector and find the option that refers to nVidia Reflex to see if disabling that solves the problem while the official solution arrives.

I have the same issue. After patch update, white square is appearing upon clicking of the left button on the mouse.

Same problem, tried every solution i could find, and few suggested via ticket from GMs,nothing helps and its quite annoying for gameplay.

Had this problem as well after the patch today. Updating Nvidia driver to latest fixed it.

For info: I don’t have any addons installed.

What windows version do you have, and what version of the driver did you install?

@Raiderjones
Windows 11 Home
nvidia driver is 32.0.15.7680 driver date 12/06/2025

Having this issue also and quickly found out the latest drivers for Windows 7, the 475.14’s aren’t signed so it f’ed up my display, had to completely remove a driver that wouldn’t work before i could revert back to the last one

This doesnt occur for me in Windows 10 though

This is why I didn’t install that version. In addition, the last versions of nVidia drivers for windows 7 only include safety corrections. As far as I know, the last signed/working version was 472.12.

Nevertheless, this issue has also happened in windows 10 and 11, so I think it is not entirely related with the driver. I believe that, instead of fixing something, the installation of a driver resets something related with nVidia reflex. However, this not explain why AMD users are experiencing the same white box issue.

After reverting to the previous working driver (I suspect you use DDU), do you still see the white box?

My previous driver was 474.66 which installed without issue a long time ago, i hadn’t bothered to upgrade until i encountered this issue in wow. During the mess i even had windows install its recommended driver which was 473.81 and didn’t fix the issue. I am back on a clean install of 474.66 and the problem still persists

Having the same issue since patch day, did anyone figure out a solution yet? I have not heard any official acknowledgement from blizzard about this one, so I am kinda not holding my breath for a fix on their side…

I’m in the same boat and the support gave me an automatic generic answer like check your antivirus, modem, dns, background software… disappointed
