Who is Anduin Sidekick?

I like that part when Magni thought she was kidnapped by iron dwarves, so he orders adventures to delve into blackrock, kill Thaurissan and get her back, but it turns out she was in love with him all along and shes going to have a baby.

This thread sums up my feelings on the matter.

In other words, let a character have feelings more complex than durr hurr me smash. There have been absolute craploads of that over the course of WoW’s story, do we really need another one?

Well, if you imply he has PTSD, then why the hell hes going to save the world again? He should take his time and get help, not to delve in the depths of the world to face who knows what monstrosities and horrors. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The one where the bronzebearf and whildhammers were too paranoid so she stepped up to protect ironforge?

Yes.

Because he doesn’t feel like he has much choice? Duh, c’mon.

Edit: And he has PTSD straight from the mental health manual, down to flashbacks lmao.

Why must the pendulum swing so far before they get it right? Can’t we have a balanced character who is both, introspective but also a badass?

Too much of anything is bad for you. Too much vitamin D and you’ll get poisoned. Likewise we’re in an ‘era’ where mental health is being overemphasised to a fault. Sometimes you do need to toughen up.

These writers really don’t understand a large part of their core audience.

They don’t understand characters like Guts from Berserk. They don’t understand Rocky.

In fact, Rocky summed up what many of us want to see represented in our entertainment media.

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”

Over-emphasis on mental health leads to procrastination. Excuses. No action. Sometimes you just have to develop mental grit and resilience. Anduin is just stuck in that finding himself phase.

And honestly, at this rate Faerin is giving that magical n-word energy. You know, they made a really crappy comedy about that trope, The American Society of Magical N-words? Blizzard writers are not doing right by anyone right now.

he’s more similar to pandaria’s anduin than the bfa one.
10\10 imho.

How so? MoP Anduin seemed idealistic, curious and capable, very in control of his powers. TWW Anduin isn’t, imo.

I really thought this would be the birth of MANduin too but then a lil mind control later (without even killing anyone notable…) got him traumatized beyond repair.

Good thing we got the girlbosses to uplift us and Anduin!.. ugh.

The game is called Warcraft and was brutal, because war is brutal, and we just came from Dragonflight where the story boiled down to people standing around talking about their feelings for the entire story and the absense of any testosterone beyond incompetent comicbook villians.

And people are quick to talk about Shadowlands being bad, while Sire Denathrius is one of the best villians they have designed since Warcraft 3, which is where all the best characters were written and developed. There is a lopsided balance in the storywriting towards “feelings” and a girl powa obsession in the power/leadership heirarchy.

We talking about Anduin or Thrall now?

Ha, I liked that guy too

Denathrius was one of the best characters they’ve made. Cool, charismatic, clever. It was completely obvious from the start he was going to be a villain and probably a raid boss though. Which is a terrible shame. Whoever wrote and designed him needs to be re-hired and allowed to do their thing.

They are overcompensating as always. Nobody has anything against well written strong female character, but they always overdo it and going from one extreme to another extreme.

Anduin.
Thrall was orphaned when he was a toddler, raised by human to be gladiator, saved form slavery, found his clan and friend Grom, saved his people with said Grom from Mannoroth, became Warchief, saved world from Deathwing, got woman and raised his kids. That’s not even a quarter of what he did and yet it’s much more than Cryduin.

He’s in a figurative Dyson vacuum cleaner.

You conveniently forgot his… what’re we at now, third crisis of faith in himself and the elements?

You have 18 years’ worth of that in the franchise. Maybe it’s time for something new and interesting.
