So hyped! Gonna level with two RL friends. I’m going holy paladin to heal their asses. One is a gnome tank, the other gnome mage. Really excited  Haven’t played the game with IRL friends since 2004.

Looking forward to it. I mean, I’m more excited about TBC part, but that’s another story

I’m not existed, because all of those unClassic changes, only reason why planning to play on fresh is (Blizzard’s caroot on a stick ) TBC to get my char to 60 and leave it there, otherwise i would not bother…

It is Classic with #changes. You had your Classic with #nochanges back in 2019. Move on already.

Think is, you and the several doom and boom who shares your view around here, will be playing 100% on the Anniversary Servers. I am 110% sure actually.

I was cool in the morning, less motivated to play WoW but now I feel it.
Didn’t expect this but now I’m in release party mode.

Yeah don’t be so sure. I’m one change away from not playing and going back to private servers for good. I have no faith WHATSOEVER in the current Classic team, and especially in its leadership. cough Aggrend cough

If character boost or experience buffs gets added…
If summoning/meeting stones gets added…
If mount/riding price gets lowered etc…
If an RP-PvP server doesn’t get added (cause I don’t want to play with people like you, or with this Retail crowd who asked for changes)

Or if layering is atrocious, which I anticipate it will be… I just want to organically encounter players out in the world, the same players that you’ve seen before a few times, the same players you’ve already grouped with.
I want to encounter PvP battles, or join them, without there being an error telling me ‘‘layer is full’’, or ‘‘you need to wait 20min to change layer’’…

With these amount of layers, it will never happen, and for the life of me I will NEVER understand how you all just accept this ungodly core gameplay change that completely annihilates community-building, social fabric and immersion. Don’t even try to rationalize it by saying ‘‘dead realm this, deal realm that’’. Been playing wow 20 years and low pop servers have always been perfectly fine.

This is not the Classic experience it’s just a fact; and sure it’s fine for those who like it.

I just wish Blizzard :

  1. Didn’t lie to us in their announcement, by saying they wanted to give us the Classic experience again, for them to then introduce massive changes 3 days prior to release.
  2. They would simply release one fresh nochanges server to make everyone happy, are you telling me Blizzard doesn’t have the money to make such gesture

But it’s 2024 Blizzard, how long before the wow token that you all cheer for, how long before xp and character boosts, how long before…

I am, kinda. But I’m unsure about something. This is using the Classic Era client, not the Cataclysm client.

Does that mean this will get stuck at TBC? Is this their answer to having different versions for Vanilla, TBC and Wrath?

Will these servers proceed to Wrath and beyond or will they get stuck in TBC and then a few years down the line they’ll make more “fresh” servers that will get up to Wrath and stay there?

Minorly. I know I won’t realistically be able to play for the first week but I’m going to make my character at launch. I’ve become very bored of retail and have no interest in where it is going until Midnight, so this is a good side project for me that I missed out on 2019.

1-60 will be a blast. Then its over

^^ This ^^

I played vanilla at launch, then again at classic launch.

Levelling from 1-60 is very similar in classic as in vanilla (I do not use questie), but 60 is way different.

Never like the farming of a single dungeon boss in classic, compared to the full dungeon runs in vanilla.

And raiding in classic was even worse. I remember our classic raid leader requesting changes to specs, raid composition and tactics. Why? Not because we where wiping, Not because people left the guild, No, It was because a random other guild cleared the raid almost a whole 3 minutes faster.

The whole min maxing took out all the fun in the game for me.

If there is a guild out there that I could join that does not care about the classes and specs or how long it takes to clear something, I might consider playing after reaching 60. I do not care about wiping and inefficiency, I just want to have fun.

You sound totally like material for our wipeguild

Playin purely for fun but still clearing everything at max option available a lot of wipes and tardlet action included :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It’s not possible to get the true “classic experience” today, because the game is solved. Part of the classic experience was figuring out how things worked. Speccing incorrectly, only to later realize your mistake and fix it. It was riding from Desolace into Feralas for the first time, being wowed by the beautiful forest after questing in that bland wasteland. These kind of things, don’t come back. They only exist in the past. But what you can get are the much more fun classes compared to how generic they all feel in retail. You can explore Azeroth once again, which is way more fun than any of the zones added in later expansions. You can have levelling that feels meaningful and actually fun, compared to retail where the levelling simply feels like an obstacle to the finished as quickly as possible.
The classic experience is gone, and it cannot come back, short of playing a new game. And I don’t think that current team at Blizzard are capable to making that new game.

Buy you can still do Faxmonkey stupid mage tricks…

Don’t get me wrong, classic is still the best version of WoW. It’s just when people complain about adding dual spec for example. We’d have given our left foot… Well, a couple of toes at least, for dual spec back in the day. I do agree with the mega server issue though. I’d rather have several smaller servers with little to no layering, but I’d take classic with layering megaservers over retail every day.

I would say the servers won’t be that large. At launch yes, but I would be surprised if 2 months in the servers would be high. If EU PvE realm will be over 10k active then it would be a shocking success. 5K would be good.
